Snowflake Wishes with a WOW background - with Video

 For the last couple of days I have been obsessed with Snowflakes, especially Snowflakes on WOW backgrounds- backgrounds created by adding ink to coloured card stock,  e.g two shades of blue to Real Red card stock, to Pacific Point, and Gorgeous Grape card stock,  using blender brushes.

In creating cards in all those colour combinations, I used a carry over stamp set and coordinating dies, Snowflake Wishes with Snowflake dies.

Stamp:  Snowflake Wishes

Papers:  Thick Basic White, Gorgeous Grape, Basic White, Gold Foil

Accessories:  Blender brushes, Foam Adhesive, White acrylic paint

Background

The background is created by applying the following colours of ink on Gorgeous Grape card stock:  Misty Moonlight, Night of Navy, and Basic Black using a blender brush.  See video for technique

Diluted white acrylic paint is splattered on the finished background to give the appearance of snow (stars)

A slim line card.  Snow flakes a various sizes are embossed with gold embossing powder on Real Red card stock.  Gold foil snow flakes are layered before being added onto a gold foil stitched circle die.

A Snowfall Pull Up Accordion (Lantern) card

 It's amazing what is found when you are not looking for it.

I have been in a decluttering, organizing lately, and when I cleaned out the closet in the spare room I found a box containing some lantern cards I had made a while ago and totally forgotten about.  The box was a bit worse for wear, but the cards were still gorgeous.

You don't have to guess what I did next!  Yup! I made a lantern card featuring the Snowflake Splendor DSP and die cut Snowflakes.  There it is below handing from the kitchen cupboard door.

There are several tutorials on how to make these cards, but I found this one particularly helpful. 

The lantern has 4 side pieces that accordion fold so it folds easily for gift giving or mailing.

I made this lantern a little differently in that 3 large die cut snowflakes were added suspended down the inside middle. To do this, some 1/8" Whisper White ribbon was inserted through a hole was punched in the center of each of 3 die cut snowflakes. I used a large eye darning needle but this is optional.  As well, to provide stability, a round glass bead was added below each snowflake. The ribbon was adhered to the roof and floor of the lantern, hiding both with strategically placed die cut snowflakes.
