Snowplace Christmas Ornament

Today was ornament making day, and I made several different kinds but the ornament I like the best was the one I made using the Snow Place Stamp set and half of a plastic ornament.

After stamping and die cutting the small snow man and the penguin, I die cut the following using the retired circle framelits:
.one scallop circle
.2 of the largest circle framelits in Whisper White
.2 of the same size in Dazzling Diamond glimmer paper
Other supplies needed:  blue sequins, mica powder, embossing buddy. 1/2 of a large plastic ornament, some decorative ribbon, tombo glue, hot glue gun.

On one of the Whisper White circles, snowflakes were randomly stamped with Versa Mark and embossed with White embossing powder.  The entire circle was then sponged with Night of Navy ink and then wiped with a paper towel to bring out the white snowflakes.

Then both dazzling diamond glimmer circles were cut in a curvy manner in 3 different layers, each layer being shorter than the other. They were adhered to the embossed Night of Navy background circle.

The Penguin was placed on top of the second layer; the small snowman on the lower layer. Tombo glue was used to adhere all these layers. This art piece circle was adhered to a second Whisper White circle and then to the Scalloped Circle. Clamps were used to keep the layers together until the adhesive dried.

Sequins and snow was piled on top of the images, and a layer of glue was placed around the edges of the circle.  Before attaching the 1/2 ornament to the image circle, it was wiped with the embossing buddy.  This prevents the "snow" from attaching to the inside of the ornament.

After adhering the ornament to the prepared circle, it was allowed to dry, and then some decorative ribbon was adhered to the outside and a bow placed on the top.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Snow Place
Inks: Black Memento, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie marker, Versa Mark, Night of Navy
Papers:Whisper White, Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Paper
Accessories: Circles Framelits (retired), 1/2 large plastic ornament (non SU), sequins, mica flakes, White embossing powder, embossing buddy, Snow place framelits

Here's another one, using the larger snowman from the same stamp set:

Merry

Gingerbread men and Christmas are thought together simultaneously- and this is a most adorable one.

He was stamped with Tip Top Taupe ink and then sponged with Early Espresso ink.  Little red hearts were adhered to her tummy, and a red glitter bow tie under the chin.  Tiny pearls became the eyes.  A santa's hat, from the stamp set "Snow Place" was stamped, coloured, cut out and adhered to his head.
Liquid Applique was applied to the icing marks on the arms, legs and the fur of the hat.  This substance when heated puffs up and looks like fur, snow, or icing.

Using dimensionals, the dressed up gingerbread man was adhered to a Whisper White oval, which was matted with a slightly larger scalloped red glimmer oval.  This unit was adhered to a Whisper White panel matted with Real Red card stock.  Candy Cane Lane Baker's Twine was wrapped around the bottom and tied into a bow.

The base card is Real Red card stock. layered with Whisper White, and then Candy Cane Lane DSP.

The sentiment "Merry" is from the "Hello You" thinlets.  The red glimmer word was adhered sideways across the card.  A couple of snow flakes added some extra bling.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Cookie Cutter Christmas, Snow Place
Inks: Tip Top Taupe, Early Espresso, Real Red marker
Papers; Real Red, Whisper White, Red Glimmer, Candy Cane Lane DSP
Accessories: Hello You Thinlets, Pearls, Cookie Cutter Punch, Candy Cane Lane Baker's Twine, Layering Ovals Die, Dimensionals, Pearls

Snow Way! It's Christmas Already? Try Stampin' on Tuiesday #234

I love all the products in the new Christmas catalogue. Tonight I thought I would play with the Penquins in the "Snow Place" stamp set, also using its coordinating framelits. Actually, I was inspired by the sketch challenge at Try Stampin' on Tuesday. The sketch comes with a technique challenge - make a shaker card.

  • The base card is Pool Party cardstock. layered with Whisper White  and then Home for Christmas DSP.
  • The shaker element is comprised of Whisper Whit circles in 3 different sizes which I made using the Circles Framelit.  These I embossed with the new Brick embossing folder.  Igloos are part of the world that penquins live it, right?  So I was trying to make it look like the the circles were the entrance into an igloo.
  • An image of a Penquin was stamped using Memento ink on a circle slightly larger than the opening of the igloo.  The nose and feet were coloured with a Pumpkin Pie marker, and a red santa hat was put on it's head (the hat was stamped in Real Red and die cut).
  • 2 layers of foam tape was used as the base of the shaker unit, and the shaker elements were comprised of silver sequins, stars in Pool Party and Silver Glitter paper punched using the star border punch
  • After I added the shaker elements, a piece of Window Sheet was attached, and the concentric circles was adhered to this.  I lightly sponged these circles in Marina Mist ink, to highlight the embossing
  • I made a separate penquin with a red scarf and ear muffs.  I put some dazzling diamond glitter on him.  He sees the Santa hat, and exclaims "Snow Way! It's Christmas Already?"
  • A Winter Wonderland embellishment is adhered to the igloo just above the Penquin outside.
