Poinsettia card

What's Christmas without a poinsettia plant.  I always get a number of them to put around the house, and they provide such a splash of colour in an otherwise gray(or white) world.
For this card I did a lot of embossing and a lot of cutting, but it was worth it.  I love the way the poinsettia from the Joyful Christmas stamp set turned out.

Papers: Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, Trim the Tree DSP, silver glimmer paper, dazzling diamond glimmer paper, Pear Pizzazz

Joyful Christmas

So far, so good.  I have been able to stay focused on making Christmas cards.  This is my second one.

The image of the Poinsettia was stamped with Versa Mark twice and embossed with gold embossing powder.  One entire flower was coloured with Cherry Cobbler blendabilities; only the middle flower was coloured in the second flower.  The middle flower was then cut out and attached to the larger flower using dimensions.  I put some gold glitter in the center.

The leaves were also embossed with gold embossing powder and coloured with Old Olive blendabilities, and then cut out.  They were attached to the underside of the flower using glue dots.

The completed flower was attached to a circle of Champagne glitter paper die cut using the Circles framelit.

The base card is Real Red, layered with Whisper White embossed with On Point embossing folder.  The designer paper was die cut using the square framelits and layered with Real Red card stock.  At one end is a strip of Old Olive paper embossed with the polka dot embossing folder.  A strip of red scalloped cardstock is attached to the outer side of the panel.  The ribbon is red satin.

Papers: Real Red, Whisper White, Old Olive, Nordic Noel DSP, Champagne Glimmer Paper

Red Embossed Poinsettia

It's been a while since I've written a blog post.  My craft shows have been keeping me busy.
This is one of the cards I made for the craft show.

Technique: The poinsettia and leaves were stamped twice with Versa Mark onto Whisper White paper, and then embossed with gold embossing powder.
One flower was entirely cut out and the center of the second flower was cut out. Both leaves were cut out as well.
Using a bone folder, I curled the petals of the flowers under ever so slightly.
Using a stamping dimensional, the middle of the flower was attached to the entire flower creating the 2 dimensionals flower.
The square framelits were used to die cut a white square which was matted with a die cut Real Red square.  The flower was attached to this die cut unit using stampin dimensionals. The leaves were attached to the bottom using tombo glue. Some cherry cobbler dazzling details was applied to the center of the flower.
The base of the card is Real Red layered with gold foil paper embossed with the fancy fan folder.

Stamp: Joyful Christmas
Ink: Versa Mark, SU markers (Real Red, Old Olive)
Papers: Real Red, Gold Foil, Whisper White
Accessories: Gold embossing powder, Fancy Fan Folder, Square framelits, Stampin' dimensionals, Cherry Cobbler dazzling details.

Poinsettia Christmas - The Friday Mashup #119

The breeze today is wonderful after the oppressive heat of the last three or four days.  It's still hot and slightly humid, but the breeze makes it tolerable.
It's hard to get in the Christmas mode with the weather being so warm, but if I'm to be ready for Christmas I have to start now.
Today I used the challenge with the Friday Mashup here - which is to use a favourite new stamp set with a sketch challenge - to create my card.  I used the stamp set "Joyful Christmas" from the Holiday catalogue.

I started by stamping two flowers and 4 leaves with Versa Mark onto Whisper White paper and embossing them with gold embossing powder.  They were then painted using ink pads and an Aqua painter.  For the flowers I used Cherry cobbler ink with shading done with Marina Mist.  The centers were painted with Daffodil Delight.  The leaves were painted with Pear Pizzazz and shaded with Old Olive.
One entire flower was cut out as well as the center of the other flower.  All the leaves were cut out as well.  The small flower was adhered to the larger flower using a dimensional.  Then I added a dot of tombo glue to the centers of the flower and placed some gold stampin' glitter on top of that.  I let the glue dry before I shook off the excess.
The flower was adhered to a Whisper White circle die cut using the circles framelit and the paper pierced with a mat pack and paper piercer. The leaves were attached as indicated in the picture above. This circle was matted with a Cherry Cobbler circle.

The base card is Cherry Cobbler card stock, layered with Whisper White cardstock and then Seasons of Style designer paper.  Six photo edges were punched in Old Olive card stock and adhered near the bottom of the DSP.  The sentiment, which was embossed with gold embossing powder, was attached to these photo edges.
The flower and circle was adhered to the DSP towards the left side of the card.
