Wreath made using Bouquet Die

I found another vine wreath and couldn't resist making another floral and butterfly wreath for my craft show.
I used the Bigz Bouquet Die as well as the Flower Frenzy die which are both now retired - pity.

The flowers were made with Whisper White cardstock the centers of which were sponged with Watermelon Wonder ink.  The centers of the larger flowers were made using Basic Black cardstock; the smaller flowers with Daffodil Delight.  Old Olive was used for the leaves.

The butterflies were die cut using the Butterflies framelits with Whisper White cardstock which was again sponged with the same color ink.  A small wire was hot glued to the back of the butterfly and then attached to the wreath with hot glue.

The ribbon used is the 1 1/4" Watermelon Wonder ribbon looped multiple times.

The hanging tie is Watercolor Wonder thick Baker's twine.

Thinking of You with Hand Made flower - Pals Paper Arts #282

Have you ever tried doing a blog post with a cat on your lap?  My cat loves to be where I am, and is quite content to sleep in his own chair, until I start to edit and blog.  Then like magic, he's on my lap!  So, if you see some black hairs on your screen, it's from you know who!

For the challenge with Pals Paper Arts   I decided to make a flower that would coordinate with the DSP I am using.  I'm really pleased with the way it turned out.

 

• The base card is Rose Red, layered with Whisper White. On top of that I placed a piece of DSP from the Love Blossoms DSP stack.  This DSP did not go all the way to the bottom.  In a gap in the bottom and overlapping the DSP is a piece of Garden Green cardstock.

       Flower: 

        I used 2 dies to make the flower - the Flower Frenzy die and the Bigz Bouquet die (both of          which are retired). Two medium sized flower were die cut in Whisper White, and one smaller flower in Pink Pirouette.  The leaves are Garden Green; the stamen Daffodil Delight. I also die cut a small 4 petal flower is Garden Green.  This was used as the base on which I built the flower.

• For each flower, the petals were completely cut into individual ones and sponged with Red Rose ink.  The stamen was made using the fringe scissors and rolling it with a pair of tweezers.
• Each petal was lightly spritzed with water and then stressed/formed with a stylus and pinched to form the shape I wanted.
• Then using the 4 petal flower as a base, each petal was attached to the base using tombo glue and held down with the stylus.  They were placed opposite each other. 10 petals were placed on the bottom.
• The stamen was then adhered to the center, and the smaller pink petals were adhered around the stamen.
• The green leaf die cut from the Bouquet die was cut in half and glued to the bottom of the flower.
• Once dry the flower was spritzed with vanilla smooch and adhered to the card.

Sentiment:   
It is from "Sheltering Tree" and stamped with Archival Ink, matted with Rose Red and then Garden Green.  It was attached to the Garden Green piece beside the flower.

Celebrate You - The Starburst Technique

Today (sob) is the last day for Sale-a-bration.  And the last day that I get to use those wonderful free products.  So, I thought I would make a Starburst card, and since I have not made one before, I looked for a tutorial and found one on You Tube by Kay Kalthoff

I used the Best Year Ever SAB paper, and the Best Year Ever Accessories.  The flower was made using the Flower Frenzy Die.

I started out with a base layer of 2 3/4 by 5", which will be hidden so it could be any colour.  The half point mark (2 1/2") was marked.

Four pieces of 1 1/2 by 4" of the DSP were cut and then cut in half diagonally.

Adhesive was applied to the entire base layer, and the diagonal half pieces were laid down starting at the middle and working outward to both edges.

After all were adhered, the base was turned over, and the excess DSP cut off.  The remaining piece was adhered to the 4 by 5 1/4" layer (Calypso Coral).  A piece of Coastal Cabana ribbon was placed around the bottom edge and then I adhered the flower embellishment.

The flower was die cut using the Flower Frenzy die.  The large piece is Calypso Coral, the smaller flower is Hello Honey, and the middle is Coastal Cabana.  The edges were sponged and curled up and adhered together with the petals alternating.  Two leaves were also die cut using Pear Pizzazz, with the leaf marking put on using an Always Artichoke marker.  In the center of the flower, I place a large rhinestone.

The Old and the New, an Easter card

I called this card the Old and the New, because I used a retired die, and then I used a new die to make this card.
The cross is made using the retired Lattice die, and the flowers with the new Bouquet die.
This card was inspired by one similar to this on Pinterest.

The base card is Daffodil Delight, layered with Whisper White cardstock embossed with the Decorative Dots folder.

The lattice was die cut with Daffodil Delight cardstock using the retired Lattice die, and the pieces cut into the shape of a cross. After attaching this to the Whisper White layers, I die cut the flowers using the Flower Frenzy die.

With Whisper White cardstock, I die cut 2 of the larger of the 5 petal flowers, 2 of the small 5 petal flowers, and with Daffodil Delight die cut 2 of the flower stamens.  Wild Wasabi cardstock was used to die cut one of the stem and leaves (I cut this in half).

The petals of each of the small flowers were curled up, and then glued to the larger one, alternating the petals.  The 2 stamens were glued together with a glue dot and then with another glue dot adhered it to the center of the flower.
With a paper piercer, a hole was made in the center of the flower through all layers  and a yellow small brad was inserted.

This was done for both flowers.  Some dazzling details was added to the tips of the stamens.

The leaves were adhered first, and then the flowers. They were adhered using tombo glue.

The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny wishes, was punched using the Word Window punch, and layered with a Daffodil Delight small oval  punchie.  I attached the sentiment with dimensionals.

Because the flowers are 3D the card would not fit in a standard envelope, so I made a box for the card.

To make the box, take a 7 3/4 by 12" piece of carstock, and score at 1, 5 1/2, 6 1/2, and 11 on the long side.  Score 1" on the other 2 sides.

After folding the score lines, cut the two middle score lines on either side up to the score line.  At the ends, cut up the score line on each of the right sides.

Form the box, and decorate the top.

Easter Gift Basket

I used my Berry Basket die for the first time today to make a gift basket for Easter.  This will be one of my sale items on my craft table on the 18th.  It was easier to put together than I thought.

The basket was made out of crumb cake cardstock and all the edges sponged with Soft Suede ink.  It was lined with Best Year Ever DSP.  The same DSP was used for the trim.

At the base of the handle, a flower was attached.  This flower was made using Coastal Cabana cardstock using the Flower Frenzy die. 

After the basket was filled with goodies, it was put in a gusset bag and tied with a ribbon.
