A de-light-ful Fairy Celebration

Why the title "de-light-ful"?
Because it's a card that light up - literally.
I have been "playing" with Chibitronics for a while now and had difficulties with the technicalities of this process.  Electricity and circuits have never been my strong point.
However after watching the tutorial video on splitcoaststampers here a light literally went on in my brain! I knew exactly what to do, and do it I did.  I made 3 cards in a row that "lit up", but this one that I am posting about today is probably my favourite.

The image was stamped twice using a stamp positioner (I wish I had my Stamparatus) so that I would know exactly where to position my lights.
After building the circuit (I should have taken a picture of that but I was so thrilled to have it working I just wanted to finish the card) I coloured the image above with Stampin' blendabilities.  The background was stamped with the twinkles from the stamp set using Pool Party ink.
Then with a very fine pair of scissors I cut out the holes in the mushroom where the light would shine through.  I tried using an exacto knife as recommended, but either my blade was too dull or my hand not heavy enough but it did not work for me, thus the small scissors.

I also applied a bit of glitter on the flowers and wings.

The butterfly on the top has the letter "P" printed on it. It's from the December Paper Pumpkin kit. This is where your press to activate the lights.

Press the butterfly, and the card lights up. The vellum placed behind the art piece disperses the light and disguises the actual chibi light.

Inks:  Black memento, Stampin' Blendabiites, Pool Party

Lost Tooth

One of my new clients gave me a great idea for my craft shows.  She had made a tin in which to place a lost tooth with a message for the tooth fairy.  It was so cute that she agreed that I could case it.
Since I did not have any tins, I used the 2 by 2" acrylic boxes.
Here is what I came up with:

I made one for a boy, and one for a girl.
The lid top has a piece of card stock on it, followed by a 1 3/4" scallop circle with a 1 1/4" Whisper White circle adhered to it.  An image of a fairy was stamped on the Whisper White circle, with the sentiment "LOST TOOTH" placed over it.

Around the acrylic box was adhered some DSP, followed by a ribbon and/or other embellishment.  For the girl I placed a ribbon bow; the boy a bow make using the bow builder punch.

Open the box and on the inside of the lid is a poem for the tooth fairy:

In this box I will lay
The tooth I lost today
Please Tooth Fairy, while I sleep,
Leave me a coin.
My tooth you can keep.

A 2 by 2" piece of card stock was adhered to the bottom.  Then I placed a coin from the Tooth Fairy.
My plan is to place a tag on the box with a coloured image from "Fairy Celebrations.

  • The basic cardstock was Blushing Bride, with the lower left corder was rounded.  It was layered with Whisper White cardstock embossed with the Sparkling embossing folder
Supplies Used:

Inks: Black Memento, Blushing Bride, Peek-a-boo Peach, Flirty Flamingo, Sweet Sugarplum, Daffodil Delight

Accessories: Layering Circles Framelits, Blender Pen, Wink of Stella clear glimmer brush, triple punch, dimensionals

Fairy Birthday Celebration

This Fairy stamp set is perfect for a birthday card for a child or anyone enamoured with fairies.  I received this card in my SU order yesterday, and couldn't wait to make a card with it.

  • The image was coloured using the colours from the DSP "Blooms and Bliss" - Sweet Sugarplum, Rich Razzelberry, Mint Macaron, Sahara Sand, Blushing Bride.
  • The using the masking technique, the background was sponged, making it look like there is light glowing behind her.  I started lighly with Daffodil Delight, gradually getting darker and then adding Marina Mist and Pacific Point.  The image was die cut using the Square dies cutting the image at an angle.  The edges were then sponged with Night of Navy ink.
  • Behind this image another square of Rich Razzelberry was added but at a 90 degree angle.
The card base is Rich Razzelberry cardstock, layered with Whisper White cardstock embossed with the Sparkles Embossing folder.
On top of that is a banner of DSP notched at one end using the triple punch.  A larger banner of Rich Razzelberry was placed behind it.

Stamps: Fairy Celebration
Inks: Black Memento, Rich Razzelberry, Blushing Bride, Sahara Sand, Mint Macaron, Daffodi Delight, Marina Mist, Night of Navy
Accessories: Wink of Stella clear glimmer brush, White gel pen, triple punch, Sparkle embossing folder.
