Happy 4th Blogaversary Unscripted Sketches #206

This is a very special card for a very special event.  It is the 4th Anniversary of Unscripted Sketches.  I think I have been following this blog or doing the sketch challenges for at least 2 of those  4 years.
Congratulations!  Here is my card:

The card base is Baja Breeze, layered with Whisper White.  The next layer is DSP made by stamping  the word "four" randomly all over the surface of a piece of Whisper White card stock. - using  Baja Breeze ink and the new Photopolymer stamp set. The stamped paper was then embossed with the Square Lattice embossing folder. All edges were sponged with Baja Breeze ink.

The focal image was stamped with Black Stazon ona piece of Whisper White.  The image was painted using ink pads and an Aqua painter.  The edges of the Whisper White were sponged with Baja Breeze ink and thie piece matted with Baja Breeze card stock.  Some dazzling details was applied to the flower centers and edges.The two layers were adhered together using dimensionals and then  attached to the top left of the card.  

A strand of Baja Breeze seam binding was adhered across the top of the card with a bow placed at the right edge of the focal image. The sketch placed the bow on the left side, but it would have covered up the image so I moved it to the right.

Bordering on Romance Mother's Day - Mojo Monday #285

Mother Nature sure fooled us!  Spring is supposed to arrive tomorrow, instead we get a dumping of snow!  Let's hope this is the last of the white stuff!

Bordering on Romance Birthday Wishes - Create with Connie & Mary NC2

Hope this post is finding you all well as the weather has been so hot here, and so dramatic elsewhere.  I hope no one is in the path of the wildfire in Colorado, or the tremendous storms in the East.

The focal image was colored with watercolor crayons and an aqua painter.  The edges of the circle were pricked with a paper piecer and mat pack.

Bordering on Romance - Stamping 411 #254

Another gorgeous day in the Kawarthas and another day of gardening and thoroughly enjoying myself.  I even made the card for this post outside.  I'm taking advantage of being outdoors as much as possible as the weather forecast for tomorrow is rain.

The image was colored with watercolor pencils and shaded with odorless mineral spirits.  I just love using that technique.  It was then matted with Coral Calypso card stock.

Secret Box

 It took me quite a while to make this secret box, but now that I know what I'm doing the next box will go faster.
I used the tutorial from splitcoaststampers here to put the box together.  I found the videos that accompany the tutorial much more helpful than the written tutorial.  Also, I used the diagonal plate to score the diagonal lines which made the process so much easier.

Here is the box:

It is called a secret box because, although it doesn't look like it, it opens up to reveal 3 drawers into which one can put jewellry, teas, or other small gifts.

You get a sneak peak of the 3 drawers.

The box is 3 by 3" and the drawers are that dimension as well. 

I used the Bordering on Romance stamp set and colored the images using watercolor pencils and odorless paint thinner.  Love that technique.  It makes the image look so rich!!

The image was stamped on circle of Very Vanilla cardstock  It was layered on a 3" scallop circle and attached to the sides and top with dimensionals.
As I mentioned, the image was colored using the Stampin' Up watercolor pencils and blended with stumps dipped in paint thinner (this can be used in place of Gamasol which is a more expensive version for artists).  The coloring is probably what took up a lot of my time, because there were 3 images to color - one for the top, and two for the sides.
