Happy Birthday with Bloom with Hope - Pals Paper Arts #252

What a week I've just had!  It's no wonder I have been feeling decidedly under the weather.  I slept until 4 pm - something I never do - but I'm awake now.

The challenge with Pals Paper Arts is a sketch one.  When I looked at the sketch no ideas came to me, but then I thought of flowers and retiring stamp sets and decided on using "Bloom with Hope".  To make my card I turned the sketch on its side.

The hardest part about stamping the images was getting them evening spaced and at the same level.  Thank goodness for the stamp-a-ma-jig. They were stamped with Stazon ink and coloured with markers and an aqua painter, using ink pads (Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo, Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive).  The sky around the flowers were also painted using an Aqua painter and ink pads (Soft Sky and Marina Mist)
Once the flowers were coloured, I stamped 3 more sets of flowers on a separate piece of Whisper white.  Only certain parts of each flower were coloured, then cut out and mounted on the original flowers using a dimensional.  The edges were sponged with Melon mambo before I adhered them.  Dazzling details applied to those elevated pieces made the flowers pop.

A piece of 1/4" Pear Pizzazz ribbon was adhered to a 1/4" piece of Whisper White cardstock  and adhered to the card just below the flowers.  A bow as attached to the left side with a glue dot.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set.  It was stamped with Basic Black, punched with the small oval punch, layered with a 1 1/4" Pink Pirouette circle, and then attached to a Pear Pizzazz modern word label punchie.  Some rhinestones were added under the sentiment.

This stamp set, as well as the Modern Word Label punch are retiring June 2

Bloom with Hope Happy Birthday - with Blendabilities background

This is another card made with a background I created using various colours of blendabilities.  The tutorial for this technique can be found here

These are the colours of the blendabilities that I used to create the background for this card:  Melon Mambo, Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, and Wisteria Wonder

This is a 5 by 5" square card with an Early Espresso cardstock base.  The next layer, Melon Mambo, is the largest of the Square framelit dies and is scalloped on all sides.

Here is the side view.

The image was stamped with Black Stazon directly onto the coloured glossy cardstock. The flower and the stem is from "Bloom with Hope", but the leaves are from "Peaceful Petals".

The image was trimmed to fit in a Bermuda Bay frame that was made by placing 2 sizes of the square framelits together and running it through the Big shot.  The image and frame were attached to the melon mambo square using dimensionals.

The sentiment, from "Remembering Your Birthday" was stamped with Basic Black ink on Whisper White cardstock and matted with a left over piece of the blendabilities background and  attached to the bottom of the frame.

To complete the card, 3 rhinestones were placed in the two upper corners.

Also used was Glossy Cardstock but photo paper could be used.

With Sympathy Using Adventure Bound DSP

One of the pieces of the Adventure Bound DSP was perfect for a masculine sympathy card.  All I did was trim the piece to fit the card, stamp the sentiment, mat it and attach it to the card.  The easiest card I have made in a long time.

Don't you just love the light shining through the trees?  So peaceful, so serene!

The sentiment is from the Bloom with Hope stamp set.

With Sympathy - Lovely as a Tree

Lovely as a Tree is such a versatile stamp set.  It's been around for a long time, and I hope it stays around for even longer.
Today I use the stamp set to make a sympathy card.  It is a very simple card, but very effective.

On a piece of Whisper White cardstock, the corners of which have been rounded, the tree was stamped with Old Olive ink, and then without re-inking , was stamped again just above and behind the first tree.
The sentiment, from "Bloom with Hope" was stamped with Basic Black on Whisper White.  This was matted with Basic Black and then Old Olive card stock and attached to the card using dimensionals.

The base card is Old Olive, layered with Basic Black, and then the image layer.

With Sympathy - Petite Petals

Again, I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest.  Pinterest is a really good source for information and for getting your mojo going when you can't think of a thing to make.
I CASED the idea of the card, but I made some changes as well.

The first thing I did was take my top layer of Whisper white and die cut it using the Apothecary Accents framelit.  Then I embossed it with the Fancy Fan embossing folder.

Now, knowing where the space is for my sentiment, I stamped "With Sympathy" from the Bloom with Hope stamp set.  It was stamped using Crumb Cake ink.

I then attached the embossed layer to a whisper White layer underneath, and then added the Sahara Sand Trim near the bottom.  I also added a piece of scalloped Crumb Cake to the bottom.
These 2 layers were then adhered to the Crumb Cake base.

Now I began work on the embellishments.  Using the Bird Builder punch, I punched 4 leaves using Pistachio pudding card stock.  Then I stamped 10 flowers from the Petite Petals stamp set, using Crumb Cake ink, and punched them out using the coordinating punch.

The leaves were glued around the aperture first, and then the flowers were attached using dimensionals.  Little pearls were put in the center of each flower.  Seven flowers were used on the front, and the remaining 3 I put on the inside.

With Sympathy - Bloom with Hope

The stamp set that I used for this card is a Hostess one, and I just love it.  I love to colour the images and I think that's what appeals to me.
I saw a similar card on Pinterest, so that's what got me into making this card.
This morning was dedicated to making sympathy cards, and I made 3 - not bad considering it's only 10 a.m.  Well, to tell the truth, I did do some of the colouring last night.....

I used several images from this stamp set to create this composite image.  The leaves and the smaller flowers were stamped with memento onto whisper white cardstock, but the larger one was stamped onto a smaller, separate piece of Whisper White.
The colouring was the fun part.  I used the new blendabilities - Pink Pirouette for the flowers, and Wild Wasabi for the stem and leaves.  I did throw in a little Melon Mambo for extra depth to the petals.  For the center of the flower I used Daffodil Delight, with a bit of Crumb Cake along the outer edges.
After I was finished colouring, the larger flower was cut out using SU paper snips.  Then it was attached to the card using dimensionals.

The main card is Pink Pirouette, layered with Basic Black, and then Whisper White.
