Best Mother Ever - SUO Challenge #142

Sale-a-bration (SAB) is moving along at a very rapid pace.  The challenge this week is to create something using SAB products.  Since Mother's Day will be upon us before we know it, I thought I would use one of the stamps to make a Mother's Day card.

The products I used:  "What I Love", Botanical Garden Vellum, and Metallic Tape

The flowers were made using the following 3 colours:  Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride, and Rose Red.  They were then cut out, the edges sponged with Rose Red ink, and mounted using a dimensional to a 2 1/2" Whisper white circle.  The bird builder punch was used to punch out leaves/branches.  They were sponged with Old Artichoke ink before adhering them to the bottom of the flowers.

The base card is top folded Rose Red cardstock, layered with Whisper White cardstock embossed with the butterfly embossing folder,.  After attaching this embossed layer to the card front, it was lightly brushed with Rose Red ink.  A layer of Botanical Garden Vellum was adhered to the bottom half.  A piece of Metallic Tape was placed at the top end of the vellum layer.

A piece of Rose Red card stock was die cut using the Apothecary die framelet.  The circle was adhered partly over this die cut piece.

Some small flowers were die cut using the metallic tape and added to the middle of each flower, followed by a rhinestone.

Three more small flowers were die cut from the vellum and adhered to the lower right corner of the card.  Rhinestones were added.

Hello My Friend - Try Stampin' on Tuesday #256

For this card, made for the challenge with  Try Stampin on Tuesday I used as many SAB products as possible - DSP, and 2 stamp sets. To make this card, I put the sketch on its side.

The card base is Melon Mambo, layered with Whisper White, and then Perfectly Artistic DSP which I stamped all over with a small flower from "Hello" and Melon Mambo ink. 

Using the circles framelit, a large circle was die cut using the "Color Me Irrestibably" DSP with the pattern of the rain drops in it.  A sponge was used to apply a bit of Pink Pirouette, and a bit of Melon Mambo in a random pattern on this circle.

On a small Whisper White rectangle, the word "Hello" was stamped using Black Memento ink.  A flower was stamped using Melon Mambo ink just above the word on the right. Melon Mambe was used to sponge the edges.  This was adhered to the circle using dimensionals.  Then below the circle the rest of the sentiment "My Friend" was stamped .

On a separate piece of Whisper White cardstock, two flowers and two leaf stems were stamped - the flowers using 3 step stamping.  The colours, in order of usage, Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride, and Melon Mambo.  The middle of each flower was stamped with Melon Mambo.  Old Olive was used to stamp the leaf stems.  The flowers and leaves were cut out by hand.

One flower was adhered directly to the card front at the edge of the circle at the lower right.  A green leaf was attached to the flower before it was glued down.  The second flower was added using dimensionals, and the accompanying leaf attached to the card front.

Wink of Stella (clear) was applied to the flower centers.

Picture Perfect New Year - SUO Challenges #138

This isn't your typical New Year card, with stars bursting in air, champagne bubbles in hand, and fancy dresses.
This is my New Year -representing change and new life - like New Year's Resolutions.
Although it is snowing and freezing rain outside, look at the card and the New Year looks much more pleasant.  The flowers are wishing you a Happy New Year.

The challenge with SUO was to make a project with a New Year's theme.

Here is mine.  The stamp set will not be available until Jan. 5, 2016

• On a separate piece of paper, the hummingbird was stamped 3 times:  Bermuda Bay, Smoky Slate and Melon Mambo.  A black marker was used to emphasize the eye, and a fine marking pen was used to emphasize the tail and wing feathers.  The bird was cut out by hand and the edges sponged with Bermuda Bay ink.  Some Clear Wink of Stella was brushed on parts of the bird to give it a shimmer effect.

• On another piece of Whisper White, three roses were stamped with 3 colors:  Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo, and Rose Red.  The leaves were stamped with Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, and Mossy Meadow.  All were cut out by hand. The edges of the roses were sponged with Rose Red ink, and the leaves with Mossy Meadow ink.

• In the meantime, stars were stenciled using So Saffron ink, on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, This would provide the backdrop for the flowers and bird.
• Once the roses and leaves were adhered to the front of the card, a strip of 1/8" glitter Bermuda Bay ribbon was added to the lower part, and a bow placed at the left end.  Extra leaves are seen falling down the right side and bottom of the card.
• The sentiment, from "Good Greetings" (retired) was cut into 3 words, and each word was placed in the middle of a flower.  Glitter was placed on top of the words.
• The Hummingbird was added using dimensionals - with the beak pointing towards the rose and the sentiment.
• To finish the card, I place gold sequins randomly on the background.

Class Project - Altered Notebook

Classes start up again on Wednesday Jan. 14, and I've been busy getting the schedule together and making samples for each class.

On Jan. 14 the topic is altering a notebook/journal, and covering a pen with beads.  For the class sample I use the beautiful Painted Petals DSP and the Lotus Blossom stamp set.

The colour combination for the Lotus flower:  Pacific Point, Marina Mist and Soft Sky.  The stem: Pear Pizzazz and Wild Wasabi.

The images were stamped onto Whisper White cardstock and die cut using the Label Framelits.  This die cut is matted with Wild Wasabi cardstock.  The sentiment is stamped in Pacific Point ink.

As an embellishment, 2 bows were made using the Bow Builder punch, one in Wild Wasabi, and one in Pacific Point.

The note book is covered with the Painted Petals DSP, and lined on the inside with Wild Wasabi cardstock.
