Christmas Barn - Card #2 Sunrise behind a Red Barn

Most older barns one sees in rural Ontario are red in colour.  I have been told the reason for this is that the only colour of paint available at that time is the colour red. For that reason, I coloured the barn on this card red and tried to make it look an "aging" red.

To add interest, I added a colourful sunrise.

Stamp:  Christmas Barn

Inks:  Basic Gray, Shaded Spruce, Soft Suede, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Balmy Blue, Smoky Slate, Stampin' Blends (Garden Green, Real Red)

Papers:  Cherry Cobbler (base), Shaded Spruce, Basic White, Smoky Slate

Accessories:  1 1/4" circle punch, Barn dies, Paint Puff, Dazzling Diamonds

1.  Punch a 1 1/4" circle from the SU Masking Paper and add to the upper right side of the Basic White piece. This is the mask for the sun.

2. Using blender brushes, apply a light layer of Daffodil Delight, and Flirty Flamingo to the left sky area and then add  Balmy Blue ink over the rest of the sky.

3.  Stamp the fence in Soft Suede about 1/2 way down the left side.

4.  Stamp 3 trees in different heights to the right side ( Shaded Spruce ink) behind where the barn will be located.

5.  Die cut a silo using Basic Gray ink, and with a sponge dauber, add some Basic Gray ink to the right side before adhering it to the card front beside the trees.

6.  On a separate piece of Basic White card stock, stamp the barn using Basic Gray ink.  Colour the barn using a Real Red Stamp n Blend,  When colouring, leave uncoloured areas, light areas and darker areas making the building look aged. Lightly colour the roof with Balmy blue and add Clear wink of Stella.  Trim the area around the barn, and add the barn to the art piece using dimensionals.

7.  Stamp, colour and die cut the wreath and adhere it over the barn door.  Add clear Wink of  Stella to the wreath if desired.

8.  Stamp foot prints going to the front door.  Use Basic Gray ink.

9.  Add puff paint randomly to the fore ground, along the fence line and in front of the silo.  Add Dazzling Diamonds while the puff paint is wet.  Heat set with a heat tool until the snow has become solid and puffy looking.

10.  Stamp the word "Merry" under the sun.

11.  Adhere the art piece to the Shaded Spruce layer and add those to the Cherry Cobbler base.

12.  Add a layer of Shaded Spruce and Basic White to the inside and stamp your sentiment of choice.
