Christmas Cards with Scrappy Strip Technique background

The Scrappy Strip technique can be very addicting.  It's a great way to use up scraps of DSP.  If you are not familiar with the technique, there are many tutorials on Pinterest.  Basically, scraps of DSP are cut into triangular strips and then adhered to a precut piece of card stock.

In the first card, I use a die cut of a tree (from In the Pines) which was mounted on a So Sweetly stitched die cut, added to a background made with retired Christmas DSP.

The scraps of retired DSP are added to a 3 by 4" piece of Garden Green card stock, and after trimming the ends it was matted with a larger piece of Garden Green card stock.  This was added to a Garden Green card stock base layered with Whisper White embossed with the snowflake embossing folder.

The tree is die cut using the In the Woods die and added to a dazzling diamond glimmer die cut. Red rhinestones are added randomly on the tree. A bow tired with gold trim is added to the base of the tree.

The sentiment is stamped in Garden Green ink on Whisper White matted with Garden Green card stock.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Itty Bitty Christmas
Inks:  Garden Green
Papers:  Garden Green, Whisper White, /Retired Christmas DSP, Dazzling diamonds card stock
Accessories:  Snowflake embossing folder, Stitched Rectangle die, So Sweetly stitched die, In the Woods die, Red Rhinestone embellishments, Gold twine dimensionals.

Card #2

This time the sentiment was gold embossed, die cut with the Frosted Frame die and added to a 3 1/2 by 5" scrappy strip background.  The same retired DSP is used, although mainly shades of red were used.  The background was matted with Garden Green before being added to the card front and a Real Red card stock base.
