Celebrate the Season in Silver and Gray - The Friday Mashup #189

Actually after the recent snow storm that moved through this area, the world looked silver and gray.  But the snow is starting to melt now - thank goodness - so it doesn't look  so silver anymore,- but more gray.

The challenge with The Friday Mashup this week  here is to create a project using "Basic Grey or Smoky Slate & Silver, or create a project some "dry or heat embossing" using Smoky Slate and Silver, or really mash it up and use the identified colours, including embossing.

I thought I would try really mashing it up, making a card using Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, and Silver, dry emboss and heat emboss, while using the stamp set "Lovely as a Tree" a favourite stamp set of mine.

I started by stamping the image of a series of trees using Slate Gray ink onto Whisper White cardstock.  I stamped off once because I wanted the image to appear to be in the distance. You can just see them in the background of the card.  Then the single image of the tree was stamped using Versa Mark ink and embossed  with silver embossing powder.  Using a sponge dauber and Slate Gray ink, the area around the trees were lightly inked to take away from the "whiteness".  After this Versa Mark ink was applied over the entire image panel, Iridescent Ice embossing powder applied, and heat embossed.  The image panel was then cut to the size I wanted it.

The window was probably the hardest part of the card to make.  The center of a piece of Basic Gray cardstock the same size as the image panel, was cut out using the trimmer (I measured 1/2" all the way around).  Then  I did the same with a piece of silver cardstock, only this time I measured 5/8" around before trimming with the trimmer.  These 2 pieces were adhered together before attaching the image panel to the back of it. So now the window had a silver lining.

The sentiment "celebrate"  from the stamp set "Good Greetings" was stamped using Encore silver ink on all 4 sides of the window piece.

Now I was ready to prepare the rest of the card.  The basic card is Smoky Slate layered with silver foil cardstock embossed with the Decorative Dots embossing folder.  A strip of silver foil All is Calm DSP was attached across the middle and Silver Satin ribbon adhered to that.

The prepared image was attached to the front of the card using dimensionals.  To finish the card, a bow of silver satin ribbon was adhered to the left side of the image, and rhinestones to each corner or the window.
