A Baby Bottle shaker Card with Animal Outing

This week I have been making baby cards.
I have been on the look out for a different style of card, and when I came upon the template of the baby bottle on Pinterest ( here) I knew I had found it.

The template was printed directly onto thick whisper White card stock and cut out. The oval center was also cut out,  and that was used to trace a template for the DSP which would be added to the front.  On the inside some tulle was used to make a shaker for the card.  After the shaker was made the DSP was added to front and the edges trimmed and sponged with Basic Gray ink.

The kangaroo with the little Joey were coloured with watercolour pencils and a blender pen, fussy cut, and mounted on a 1 1/4" punched circle with dimensionals, and adhered to the lower card front .  Two giraffes were also coloured and fussy cut and mounted along the upper side keeping guard.

Braided Linen thread was wrapped around the neck of the bottle and tied into a bow and 3 tiny roses added to the outside edges.

The sentiment inside is from "Sweet Baby"

The card fits into a regular A2 envelope

Thank You Shaker - The Paper Players #439

Time is almost up for the Occasions Catalogue and the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue as the new Annual Catalogue is waiting to emerge.

For the sketch challenge with The Paper Players I took the opportunity to use the "Humming Along" stamp set one more time - in the form of not only a shaker card, but a tulle shaker card.

Why a tulle shaker versus a regular shaker?  A tulle shaker is not only much lighter in weight, it is thinner as well, making it less costly to mail.

On a Melon Mambo card base was adhered a piece of Whisper White card stock embossed with the Curls & Swirls embossing folder.

A strip of Garden Impressions DSP was added vertically to the left side; another strip of similar size with a different pattern of the same DSP was added horizontally.

After all was firmly adhered, a circle, using the layering circle dies, was die cut in the card front. Around the circle was added a Melon Mambo frame which was made by die cutting two different sizes of the circle dies at the same time. Behind this circle a tulle 'pouch' with shaker elements was added creating the shaker card.

On a separate piece of Whisper White card stock, a single Hibiscus was stamped and coloured with Stampin Blends.  The flower was coloured with Melon Mambo (light) first with shading done with dark Melon Mambo, followed by Cherry Cobbler and light Night of Navy.  The closer to the center of the flower, the darker the colouring. The stamen was coloured Daffodil Delight with a touch of Melon Mambo. Old Olive was used to colour the stem and single leaf.

The completed flower was die cut and added to the right side of the circle.

Stamped in Melon Mambo ink, the sentiment was matted with Melon Mambo card stock and adhered to the card front using dimensionals

Weather Together Tulle Shaker Cards

We've had some extreme "active" weather of late, from Nor-Easters in the US to heavy rain storms in this part of the country.  High winds and heavy rain is expected here over night.

I made these cards for a challenge for a group I belong to, the theme of which was "Showers".  I remembered seeing a video by Jennifer McGuire on how to make shaker cards using tulle rather than window sheets.  No foam tape is needed and the resultant card is lighter and much thinner. Perfect for the 3 shaker cards I needed to make.

I started by adhering the Smoky Slate layer with the Whisper White front layer which I had stamped with falling rain drops.  Then, using a layering circle framelit I die cut a circle near the upper top of both layers.

After tacking both layers apart, tear and tape adhesive was applied around the die cut circle and the edges of both the Whisper White and Smoky Slate layers.

After removing the top of the tape from both pieces, a piece of White Tulle was adhered over each circle.  Shaker elements were added to the center of the tulle on the Smoky Slate piece.  The Whisper White piece was then adhered to the Smoky Slate piece and the shaker is formed.  Wallah, it worked!!

Some DSP featuring rain drops from the Foxy Fox DSP was adhered to the Bermuda Bay card front.  The Shaker part was then added to the card front.

On the card front, an umbrella was stamped with Black Memento onto Bermuda Bay card stock and die cut; the handle stamped onto Smoky Slate and also die cut.  The two parts  were adhered together and added to the lower shaker using dimensionals.

A small cloud die cut in Whisper White and sponged with Basic Gray was added to the upper part of the shaker with dimensionals

The sentiment at the bottom was stamped in Bermuda Bay in onto Whisper White , matted with Smoky Slate and added to the front with dimensionals.

And what is a card without glimmer, so I added Clear Wink of Stella to the cloud and the Umbrella.

As I mentioned at the start of this post, the resultant card is much thinner and is lighter in weight than a conventional shaker.

On the picture below, the tulle shaker card is at the top, with the regular shaker at the bottom.  You can see the difference in the thicknesses of the two cards.

Butterfly Tulle Shaker - Sunday Stamps #153

The challenge at Sunday Stamps this week is a color one.  The challenge is to use a minimum of 3 of the colors, plus a neutral of my choice. that I will post below the picture of the card I have made.

On a piece of Whisper White card stock embossed with the Fluttering embossing folder, two small butterfly were die cut. using the Bold Butterfly framelit.  This was to reveal the watercolor wash below.

The watercolor wash was done on a piece of watercolor paper using the following colors :  Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade, Marina Mist, and Tranquil Tide with Whisper White as my neutral.

The butterfly die cuts were converted into shakers by using glitter tulle instead of window  sheet
Small pearl flowers were used as the shaker elements.  If you look closely you can see some of the floral shaker elements in the picture below.

Some dark blue dimensional glimmer glue was dotted from each butterfly to mimic antennae.

This art piece was adhered to  Tranquil Tide card stock.

Butterfy on a Tulle window shaker

After making a Watercolor wash for another card I made a couple of days ago, I used it for today's card.  I again madee a tulle shaker with a butterfly. adhered to the front.

I must admit, I love making tulle shakers.  This time I used a tulle that had glitter embedded in it.

I made a window frame the same size as my watercolor wash back ground.  On the back of the window I adhered a piece of  white glitter tulle using tear and tape adhesive.  Another piece was adhered to the watercolor wash background.

Above is the watercolor wash background.
Sprinkle embellishments were added to the tulle on the watercolor wash back ground , and the top piece was added to the background piece.  Excess tulle was trimmed.

This was added to a Melon Mambo card front.  Two smaller punched Melon Mambo butterflies were added to the sentiment and on the front.

A butterfly was die cut using the Butterfly thinlet and adhered to the tulle.  Some dazzling details was added to the body of the large butterfly and the two smaller ones.

The sentiment is from Happy Happenings and stamped with Black Memento.
