Balloon Birthday - Try Stampin' on Tuesday #315

The sketch challenge with Try Stampin' on Tuesday this week is just crying for balloons.  However, I did have to make some strategic changes to Vicki's sketch, which I hope she doesn't mind.

The optional theme for this sketch was to use 3 different patterns.
As you can see from my card, instead of circles I used balloons of different sizes and patterns, and I placed them on the upper left of the card.

To do this I used balloons from 2 different stamp sets:  Celebrate today (the larger balloon) and Balloon Adventure (2 other balloons).

After stamping the balloons on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, the larger one was die cut using the Balloon Framelit Dies: the smaller balloons with the Balloon Bouquet punch.

The sentiment was stamped on the larger balloon
with Black Memento ink before it was adhered to the upper left of a Very Vanilla Art piece. A curly balloon string was stamped from the larger balloon. The other two balloons were adhered using dimensionals. A fine tipped marker was used to hand draw balloon strings from these two balloons to merge with the curly one.

Two Bermuda Bay glimmer bows were added two places along the balloon strings.

After I finished this, I felt the card lacked something, so I die cut some clouds using the Up & Away Thinlets, sponged them with Basic Gray and adhered them to the card.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Celebrate Today, Balloon Adventures
Inks: Calypso Coral, Black Memento, Crushed Currie, Bermuda Bay, Basic Gray
Papers:  Calypso Coral, Whisper White, Very Vanilla, Bermuda Bay glimmer paper
Accessories: Balloon Framelit dies, Balloon Bouquet Punch, Up & Away Thinlets, dimensionals.

Now its your turn.  Create a project using Vicki's sketch.  Then download it to the Try Stampin' on Tuesday blog or their Facebook Page.  Remember that you have 2 weeks to complete your project. I look forward to seeing your projects.

Birthday Celebrations - Hand Stamped Sentiments #236 and Pals Paper Arts #297

For this birthday card I have combined two challenges - a sketch challenge with Hand Stamped Sentiments and a colour challenge with Pals Paper Arts

 Pals Paper Arts PPA297

The base card is Wisteria Wonder, layered with Color Me Irresistibly (striped) coloured with Wisteria Wonder ink.
The image piece is also Color Me Irresistibly (rain drops) coloured randomly with Wisteria Wonder ink.  This piece is matted with Wisteria Wonder cardstock and adhered to the card front.

The image pieces consist of 3 balloons, one of which is a shaker balloon. One balloon was stamped with Pool Party, die cut with the balloon framelits and the  middle punch with a 1 3/4" circle balloon. After covering the opening with Window Sheet, an end piece of Dimensionals was adhered around the circle, shaker pieces added (made using star border punch with pieces of Daffodil Delight, Wisteria Wonder and Pool Party), and a 2 1/2" Whisper White circle attached to it.  I stamped a bow in Pool Party, die cut it and added it to the balloon using a glue dot.
The second balloon was stamped with Wisteria wonder ink, and the image of the stars was stamped on top of it.  It was die cut and added to the image piece with the top part over the edge.  The Pool shaker balloon was added just below and to the left side of the image piece.
The third balloon was stamped in Daffodil Delight, with the sentiment stamped using Memento and a stamp-a-ma-jig.  Again, a bow was stamped and attached to the bottom of the balloon.
Balloon strings were stamped from each balloon using Memento ink.
Some small stars in Daffodil Delight, Wisteria Wonder and Pool Party were adhered to the background.
A blender pen was used to add Dazzling details to these stars, and to the periphery of each of the balloons.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Celebrate Today, Balloon Celebration
Inks: Black Memento, Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party, Daffodil Delight
Papers: Wisteria Wonder, Color Me Irrestibly, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party
Accessories: Balloon framelits, 1 3/4" circle punch, 2 1/2" circle punch, window sheet, end of Dimensionals, Dazzling Details, glue dots

Happy Birthday - Celebrate Today - A Shaker Card - TSSC # 352

This birthday card was inspired by a video I saw on You Tube done by C.L. Budhal here.  I did make a number of changes as I was making this shaker card for the sketch challenge with Technostamper at this site

It was fun making a shaker card again, but I must admit it took a bit of trial and error.  The video helped a lot, but I still made a lot of mistakes - like forgetting to attach the window sheet before applying the foam tape. Ugh!  However, I got through it, and I'm quite pleased with the outcome.

Using a piece of DSP 3 5/16 by 4 12/16" a balloon was die cut near the top in the middle, using the Balloon framelits.
A Lost Lagoon mat 4 14/16 by 3 10/16" was placed under the DSP to determine the placement of the sentiment in the middle of the balloon die cut.  The sentiment was stamped in Versa Mark and embossed with silver embossing powder.  I also embossed some elements from the Perpetual Birthday stamp set.
Turning the DSP over, I first attached a 3 by 3" piece of clear window sheet, and then attached  a double layer of foam tape around the balloon and all the way to the bottom of the DSP.
I placed a little bit of In Color sequin assortment in a pile on the sentiment on the Lost Lagoon cardstock, and gently placed the taped DSP centered over the sentiment. P.S. Remove the protective layer of the tape first.

A piece of Hello Honey cardstock was embossed with the Fancy Fan folder and attached to the DSP below the balloon, and a piece of ribbon applied over the seam.
The sentiment is from "Remembering Your Birthday".

The basic card is Lost Lagoon, layered with Whisper White.  On this layers, near is the bottom is attached a Smokey Slate cardstock piece embossed with the Decorative Dots folder.

Happy Birthday Concertina Card with the Scallop Tag Topper punch

My very special friend, whom I roomed with when I went to University (many moons ago) is having a birthday on a few weeks.  I wanted to make her a very special birthday card, as we have been through so much together.  It really is amazing that we have kept in touch all these years, through many moves, through getting married, having children, moving to different provinces, to getting divorced and now being grandparents.  I love her to bits!  She came to visit me this summer all the way from Manitoba (she actually drove and camped along the way) and it was so good to see her.  Somehow the years have not changed her.

Anyway, back to the birthday card.
I watched a You Tube video on a special fold card called a concertina card here.  Joanne James did a marvelous job as she takes you through making this card step by step.  I was inspired to make this card, and yes it did take me a long time, especially decorating the inside, but I love it, and so will my friend.

The card is so long, that I had to take 2 pictures of the inside side by side. Then I folded the card partially and was able to get a picture of the entire inside.

I used mainly Sale-a-bration products. However, the sentiment "Happy" came from the stamp set "Celebrate Today" and the letters were die cut using the Timeless Type Alphabet Junior Sizzlets - now retired.

Here's a list of the products used:

I also used rhinestones on the centers of the flowers and butterflies.

Happy Birthday - Celebrate it Today - SUO Challenge #112

This card did not turn out the way I visualized it, but I like it anyway.  Does that ever happen to you?  I made the card for the challenge with SUO here The challenge is to make a project that includes something that conveys the season greetings of Merry or Happy.
Now, I have finished my seasonal cards and put my stamps away, but I got to thinking about other "Happy" Events around this time of year.  Several of my Facebook friends have birthdays on Christmas day or during the Holiday Season, so I thought I'd make a birthday card.  Hope my thinking is not too "way out there"
Well, I went to post it on the SUO blog, and the linkz was closed.  Drat, I hate missing them!

I used a new stamp set from the about come out from the Occasional Catalogue, and paper and embellishments from Sale-a-bration.

I first stamped two balloons in Coastal Cabana.  The second balloon I stamped off first because I wanted it to appear to be farther away from the first balloon.  Then I added the stars on the light balloon and put Coastal Cabana dots on them using the blendabilities marker.  Both were die cut using the Balloon framelits.  One side of each balloon was sponged with Coastal Cabana ink and a dauber to give them dimension,

The flags were first stamped in Versa Mark and then Coastal Cabana, sprinkled with Clear embossing powder and heat set.  They were then die cut using the Balloon framelit and added to the lighter balloon.

The string for each balloon was stamped in Calypso Coral and cut out (yes, cut out!) and one end attached to the bottom of each balloon and down the card right to the ribbon.

Two bows were stamped in Calypso Coral, die cut, and adhered to the bottom of each ballooon.

The birthday sentiment was stamped in Calypso Coral, made into a flag and adhered to the balloon, using dimensionals, with the work "Happy" on it.  A Coastal Cabana star was punched using the Itty Bitty star and placed over the corresponding Epoxy Sticker.  Ever make a "boo boo" on a card?  Well, I had the card almost put together and some Calypso Coral ink smeared on the balloon from my finger.  So, I placed the Epoxy sticker over the "boo boo".

Ribbons were stamped using Calypso Coral ink and die cut and added to the bottom of each balloon.

After all the glue was dry, I applied Dazzling Diamonds to the work "Happy".

The card base is Coastal Cabana, layered with Best Year Ever DSP (SAB).  All the images were applied to a Whisper White base which had been embossed with the Decorative Dots embossing folder.

At the bottom of the card, Calypso Coral Chevron ribbon was attached, with the excess ribbon tied in the middle with Calypso Coral Baker's twine to form a ribbon.  Both ends were flagged.  In the middle is a Coastal Cabana ribbon from SAB with a piece of Baker's twine tied into a bow in the middle.
