But, it's not like that for a lot of people who feel sad this time of year. Why?
Yesterday ( at 5:23 pm) Winter Solstice arrived heralding in the first official day of Winter in the Northern Hemisphere. It also marks the shortest day of the year ie. a day with the least amount of sunlight. But, from now on the days will gradually get longer until the Spring Equinox arrives.
Two things drive this all important seasonal happening - the Earth's tilted axis and the planet's orbit around the sun.
One of the ways to counteract the SADS, or the sadness we feel associated with decreased sunlight, , is to immerse yourself in an activity you love. For me that's spending time in the craft room. And, if you're working with a stamp set that makes you smile and lifts your spirits, that's a bonus.
Here's another card that's a sneak peak for the new year, that is also bound to make you smile:
It's like he's gesturing "You can do this" It may be dark out there but there's light in here. He actually reminds me of one of my favourite teachers!
This hoppy frog was coloured with Stampin' Blends and the art piece matted with Berry Burst card stock and added to the card front using dimensionals.
The card base is Granny Apple Green layered with Whisper White embossed with the Lots of Petals embossing folder. At the bottom I adhered some Animal Adventure DSP and added a strip of another pattern of the same DSP at the top of this strip.
To finish the card I added a ribbon bow made with the crumpled Berry Burst seam binding.
Supplies Used:
Stamp: So Hoppy Together
Inks: Black Memento, Stampin' Blends( Granny Apple Green, Smoky Slate)
Papers: Granny Apple Green, Whisper White, Berry Burst, Animal Adventure DSP
Accessories: 5/8" Crumpled Berry Burst Seam Binding, dimensionals
