Chipboard butterfly Birthday - Sketch Frenzy Friday

Wow!  Christmas Eve is a week from today.  Yes, not only is today a week from Christmas Eve it is also time for the Sketch Frenzy Friday mini blog hop.

I've been playing with the On Board chipboard lately and surprisingly enjoying myself.  I have not worked with chipboard very much, actually avoiding working with it thinking it was too hard.  Frankly, I wasn't interested!  Somehow, this week that changed and in the card for this week's challenge I use a chipboard butterfly.
Instead of a Christmas card I made a Birthday card.

This week's sketch is by Patrice Herrara and below her sketch is my take on it.

The butterfly is from the On Board Merry Medley.
The right wing  was covered with Flirtatious Specialty designer paper, and the left wing partially covered with the reverse side.  The rest of the left wing was sponged with Melon Mambo ink.  The entire edges of the butterfly was then sanded with a sanding block followed by a sponging with Melon Mambo ink.
Using the Circle  Itty Bitty punch, a circle of designer paper was punched and then adhered to the left lower wing. A pearl was placed in the middle of this circle.
A row of small pearls was adhered to the middle of the body.
The antennae were made using a small paper clip that was straightened up (I got the idea from Sharon Field).  Pearls and crystals from the retired Pretties kit were inserted at each end, and the ends bend over with a pair of pliers.  The entire clip was folded in half and adhered to the back of the butterfly with a hot glue gun.  See the close up of the butterfly below.

The birthday sentiment was stamped using Melon Mambo ink on Whisper White cardstock.  This was attached to the designer paper near the bottom of the card.  A scalloped strip of Pumpkin Pie cardstock was placed at the top of  this piece of Whisper White paper.    1/4" Whisper White grosgrain ribbon was adhered to the top of this scalloped piece.
A Whisper White doily was then adhered to the top of the card and the butterfly was mounted on top of this using dimensionals.  Three flowers were punch using the Boho blossom punch and adhered at the right perimeter of the doily.  Pearls were placed on the middle of each flower.  A flower was also placed at the left lower sentiment.

Stamp: Perfectly Penned
Inks: Melon Mambo
Papers: Melon Mambo, Whisper White, Flirtatious Specialty designer paper, Chipboard butterfly (On Board Merry Medley), Pumpkin Pie
Accessories: Boho blossom punch, Pearls, Pretties kit (retired), paper clip, pearls, scallop edge punch, 1/4" Whisper white grosgrain ribbon, stampin dimensionals, hot glue gun, Circle Itty Bitty punch
