Father's Day Double Side Step Card

It took me a while to figure this card fold out, but the tutorial by Dana and Sabrina was very helpful.  I decided to make this double side step card into a Father's Day card, and use one of the stamp sets "Walk in the Wild" that is retiring.

The basic cardstock is Soft Suede which I cut and scored as directed in the tutorial.
The images were stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock, matted with Basic Black.  The edges of all Very Vanilla cardstock were sponged with Soft Suede ink.

On the left panel, the image of the goose from "Wetlands" was stamped with Memento ink, and then masked the goose to stamp the sea grass in Old Olive behind it.  At the bottom I stamped the multi circle edge stamp in soft Suede.  I coloured the goose with blendabilities.
At the upper left corner, the sun, from "Kinda Eclectic" was stamped with Hello Honey.
Then with a sponge, I lightly sponged the sky with Marina Mist ink.

The first think I did on the right panel to use a stamp from "Work of Art" in Soft Suede ink in two places.  Above that another stamp from the same stamp set was stamped in Marina Mist ink.  Then the sandpipers from "Wetlands" was stamped in Early Espresso ink.  I also stamped the same edge stamp on the bottom of this panel.
Using a sponge, the sky was first coloured with Marina Mist ink, and then Blushing Bride.

The Moose, from "Walk in the Wild" was stamped with Memento ink on Very Vanilla on the middle panel.  The leaf from "Kinda Eclectic" was stamped using Pear Pizzaz twice on the upper left, after which the sky was lightly sponged with Marina Mist.  The image and grass were coloured with blendabilities.
A butterfly from "Kinda Eclectic" was stamped in Marina Mist ink and punched with the Itty Butterfly punch, attached to the panel with a glue dot and rhinestones adhered to its middle.  I drew two antennae using a fine black pen.

Both sentiments are  from "Best Dad Ever".

The embellishment is a clay button made using SU clay and the button clay mold.  I coloured it with a Soft Suede marker and adhered a bow made with Early Espresso baker's twine.

Thinking of You - Wetlands - Card #2 Blendabilities Background

This is the second card is a series using the blendabilities backgrounds I created yesterday.  I again use the "Wetlands" stamp set (this is one of my favourite stamp sets) and the "Thinking of You sentiment.  I must be thinking about someone.  Actually I am.  My older sister in Vancouver had a heart attack this week, and she wants me to come and visit her.  I don't know if I can travel. Any way, that's another story.  I am thinking about someone.

For this background I used the dark shade of all the following blendabilites with the exception of the Crumb Cake which is also used the light shade:  Crumb Cake light, Crumb Cake medium, Bermuda Bay, and Daffodil Delight.

Here's how the card turned out.  For some reason the card is a little crooked.

This is the side view.  I intended to stamp 2 rows of sandpipers, but I goofed with the second row.  Glossy card stock is very slippery, and if you press on the paper too hard, the image smears, which is what happened.  As a result, I created a totally different looking card.  This time I used some embellishments.

The base card is Soft Suede, layered with Whisper White with a panel of Coastal Caban on the left side.  Attached to this panel is a strip of Soft Suede die cut using the large scallop framlet, and then attached a 1/4" Daffodil delight ribbon over the seam.  A knot made with the ribbon is attached at the top using a glue dot.
At the bottom, on the panel, are attached to round bitty buttons, with a small round punch of soft suede underneath.  That was punched with the Itty Bitty punch pack (the circle one).  Attached to the top of one of them is bow of Early Espresso Baker's twine.

The sentiment is from "Walk in the Wild"

The bitty buttons are retired.
As well as the other papers, I also used Glossy Cardstock.

Hardwood Background Birthday - Friday Mashup #141

Happy New Year everyone.  We've had quite the New Year weather wise.  It really started before Christmas when we were hit by a huge ice storm which crippled the City of Toronto with most of the city being without power for over a week. This combined by frigid temperatures in the minus 40 degrees C (with the wind chill) made for a cool holiday season.  Since then we have had a few relatively mild days but mainly cold, cold temperatures - and snow almost everyday.  My poor son is having a hard time keeping the driveway clear.  We have to be happy just keeping the mouth of the driveway clear of snowplough mounds. Today the thermometer is minus 21 without the wind chill - not a day to be going outside.  Apparently exposed skin will freeze in under 5 minutes.

For this week's challenge with the Friday Mashup here I chose not to do a theme related to time as I did not have any stamps for that theme.  Instead I chose to make a masculine birthday card.

I used a combination of new Occasions catalogue items and items available in the Annual catalogue.
The base card is Soft Suede layered with a piece of Whisper White which has been stamped with the Hardwood background stamp.  On this I applied a piece of Retro Fresh designer paper.

The image is stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Soft suede ink, with the sentiment stamped directly underneath it.  This panel is sponged with Soft Suede ink and then matted with a piece of Soft Suede card stock.  A banner of Tangerine Tango cardstock is attached at the bottom of the panel and this panel attached to the card using dimensionals.
Some Gold Baker's twine was wound around the card at its left side.

Stamps: Hardwood, Walk in the Wild, Petite Pairs, Another Great Year
Inks: Soft Suede
Paper: Soft Suede, Whisper White, Retro Fresh Designer Paper, Tangerine Tango
Accessories: Gold Baker's twine

Walk in the Wild Birthday - Technostamper #268

What a beautiful day it was today!  One almost wants to take a walk in the wild!

This card is for the Technostamper challenge here

Note:  All edges are sponged with Soft Suede ink
The base card is Soft Suede layered with Very Vanilla card stock.

I started the card by stamping the image of the moose in Soft Suede onto Whisper White card stock.

Then I took 3 strips of retired designer paper and made them into banners and attached them under the moose image.

A strip of Soft Suede taffeta ribbon was laid across the seam.

A Soft Suede marker was used to isolate the words of the sentiment from the rest of the stamp, and the sentiment was stamped onto Very Vanilla card stock.  This was layered with Soft suede card stock and attached across the 3 lower banners.

Here's a list of the supplies I used:
Stamps:  Walk in the Wild, A Word for You
Inks: Soft Suede, Soft Suede marker
Papers: Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Whisper White, Retired DSP
Accessories: 3/8" Soft sueded taffeta ribbon.

Walk in the Wild Thinking of You

What a beautiful day today.  I hope all of you are getting out there and enjoying it.

I made this card for the challenge with Unscripted Sketches here.
Because Father's Day is so close, I made a card that could be used for that day, or it could just be a masculine card for any occasion.

Please note that I placed the sketch on its side to complete my card.

Here's a list of the supplies/materials I used:

Stamp: Walk in the Wild
Ink: Soft Suede
Papers: Soft Suede, Pear Pizzazz, Gingham Garden DSP, Whisper White
Accessories: Houndtooth folder, distressing tool, Scallop border punch, dimensionals

I appreciate you stopping by.
