Masculine Pop Out Explosion Card

This is my final card using the True Gentleman suite because - I've run out of DSP - so I thought I would finish with a Pop Out Explosion card.

I used the tutorial with Splitcoaststampers here

This card has a Very Vanilla base of 4 1/4 by 9 " folded in half to form a 4 1/4 by 4 1/2" card.  The front is layered with a 4 1/4 by 4 1/4" piece of True Gentleman DSP.  A different pattern but same size of DSP covers both of the inside panels as well.

It is held closed with a removable 1 by 9 1/2" belly band.

The pop out explosion mechanism starts with a 6 by 6"  piece of Very Vanilla card stock that is first folded in half, opened, folded in half again, opened and than folded tip to tip at an angle.

I cut two other 2 3/4" squares of a different pattern  of the DSP and placed each half on the triangular pieces of the pop out.  The unscored area was left for stamping a sentiment and/or writing a note.

To ensure this pop out fits properly inside the card, the envelope punch board was used to punch out the middle scored area .

A 1 by 9 1/2" Tranquil Tide belly band with some 3/8" Night of Navy corduroy ribbon adhered to the middle of it was wrapped around the card to keep it closed. It can be slipped off to open the card.

To this band I added an embellishment made using  a Crumb Cake Starburst crimped circle with a Tranquil Tide Tag punchie adhered to it.  A banded sentiment was added to the top of that with dimensionals.

Finally two small buttons threaded with linen thread were added above and below the sentiment.

The entire embellishment was added to the band using dimensionals.

Papers:  Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Tranquil Tide, True Gentleman DSP
Accessories:  Starburst Circle punch, Tailored Tag Punch, True Gentleman Buttons, Linen Thread, Glue Dots, Crimper, 3/8" Night of Navy corduroy ribbon, Dimensionals ,Envelope punch board

True Gentleman Suite Birthday Cards

I'm doing a class on Masculine cards in two weeks time, and I'm getting samples of various male cards together.

Today my focus is on the True Gentleman Suite (Pg. 44-45 of the Occasions Catalogue) which includes the Truly Tailored Stamp set, True Gentleman DSP, True Gentleman buttons, and the Tailored Tag punch.

The first two cards are below.

Because these two cards use mainly DSP, they are a great way to use the paper up.  Both cards have the same format, but the DSP used is different in each car. The measurements for each layer are below the picture.

The base card is Chocolate Chip card stock, and the rest of the card is made using 3 different patterns of the True Gentleman DSP

Here are the measurements:
  • Chocolate Chip card stock  4 1/4 by 5 1/2 card base
  • True Gentlemen DSP (tie pattern) 4 by 5 1/4" - layer for card base
  • 2 pieces of Chocolate Chip card stock 2 1/4 by 2 5/8" - mat for center pieces of DSP
  • DSP 2 1/8 by 2 3/4" - center pieces
  • DSP (blue striped) 1 by 4 7/8 " - center strip
  • Chocolate chip card stock 11 4 by 5" - mat for center strip
  • Chocolate chip starburst punch
  • Sentiment stamped with Chocolate Chip ink on a scrap piece of Very Vanilla card stock and punched with Tailored Tag punch
  • Two buttons threaded with Linen thread and added to card front with glue dots.
Putting card together:
  1. Adhere DSP to card base
  2. Adhere center pieces of DSP to Chocolate Chip card stock and adhere to card base with dimensionals
  3. Adhere Starburst punched circle
  4. Adhere punched sentiment to circle using dimensionals.
  5. Add buttons.
This is what the inside of the card looks like:

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Truly Tailored
Inks:  Chocolate Chip
Papers:  Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, True Gentleman DSP
Accessories:  Starburst Punch, Tailored Tag punch, True Gentleman Buttons, Linen Thread, Dimensionals, Glue Dots, Stamparatus.

Here's a second card:
