Whew!! Another hot one today. I hear that a cooling trend is on the way - not too cool though!
This card is for the challenge with Try Stampin' on Tuesday here I just love this time of year when the sun goes down about 9 p.m. The background of this card reflects a summer sunset against some flowers.
I made a watercolour background using ink pads, an aqua painter and watercolour paper. Then I embossed the images using black embossing powder. The large flower was embossed on Whisper White card stock and then cut out, and later glued to the background. The smaller flower was embossed directly onto the background.
The basic card is Basic Gray card stock, layered with Honeycomb embossed Whisper White. Strips of designer paper (origin unknown) were placed according to the diagram and the image panel was attached to the card.
I made a change to the sketch in that I placed the sentiment on top of the image panel rather than at the bottoom left.
Pearls were placed at the upper right and lower left corners.
Materials Used:
Stamps: Fabulous Florets, Petite Pairs
Inks: Daffodil Delight, Basic Gray, Basic Black, Versa Mark
Papers: Basic Gray, Whisper White, Watercolour paper, DSP (Unknown)
Accessories: Black embossing powder, Aqua painter, Pearls, Honeycomb folder

The Open Sea Triple Stamping - The Friday Mashup #
What a situation we have in southern Alberta! The flood there is of historic proportions, filling the streets of Calgary and 20 other communities with water. It is estimated that the flood extends 500 km and over 100,000 people have been displaced.
The Calgary Stampede is scheduled to begin there in 8 days, but the Saddle Dome is also flooded and has water up to row 6 in the arena, so I don't see how this can be accomplished. Plus the Trans Canada highway has been washed away so no car traffic can go in and out this area.
These flood waters are moving south and east towards Sasketchewan and Manitoba potentially causing flooding there as well.
The challenge with the Friday Mashup here this week is triple stamping using 3 of the following colours: Crumb Cake, Summer Starfruit, Pacific Point or Daffodil Delight. I chose Crumb Cake, Summer Starfruit and Pacific Point and used the stamp set "The Open Sea"

Pinwheel Quilting Birthday
Someone suggested that if I paired Summer Starfruit with another color I might like the color better - so, I paired it with Midnight Muse - and I must admit the result is much better.
I decided to make another quilting card - this time a pinwheel one. They are so easy to make and the designs showcase the designer paper so nicely.
I punched 4 squares with the 1 3/8" punch and cut each square in half - 2 for each side of the designer paper. Then I punched another square using Midnight muse, cut it in half and then in half again. The small triangle I placed on top of the Summer Starfruit pattern near the center.
Stamp: Petite Pairs
Ink: Midnight Muse
Papers: Midnight Muse, Very Vanilla, Summer Starfruit, Comfort Cafe designer paper
Accessories: Mat pack & paper piercer, Scallop border punch, Modern word label punch, 1 3/4 by 7/8" oval punch, Linen thread, Antique Brad, Chevron folder, Pearls
