Let it Ride - The Paper Players #448

I thought today I would make a card featuring one of the stamp sets retiring on June 2 when the new Annual Catalogue goes live.  The stamp set I chose today is "Let it Ride" and I am submitting the card to the challenge at The Paper Players #448

)

I placed the sketch on its side for my card.

The horses were stamped with Black Memento ink and then coloured with Stampin' Blends. For the trees I used Stampin' Markers (Call Me Clover and Early Espresso) directly onto  the stamps prior to stamping.
For the clouds I went to another favourite stampe set of mine:  "My Meadow".  Both the large and small cloud stamps were used with Balmy Blue to create some definition in the sky.

When completed, the edges of the image piece were sponged with Soft Suede ink,  The image was  then matted with Soft Suede card stock and added to the card front with dimensionals.

The card front is Soft Suede card stock layered with a diagonal striped retired Soft Suede DSP.  The edges of this was sponged as well.

The Timeless Label punch was used to punch out the sentiment.  This was trimmed to accommodate the location on the card.  Two pieces of this punch were adhered together to make a mat for the sentiment, which was then added to the card front using dimensionals.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Let it Ride, My Meadow
Inks:  Black Memento, Soft Suede, Stampin' Blends (Soft Suede, light and dark, Crumb Cake light and dark, Basic Black, Smoky Slate), Balmy Blue, Stampin' Up Markers - Call Me Clover and Early Espresso.
Papers:  Soft Suede, Whisper White, Soft Suede DSP (retired)
Accessories:  Timeless Label punch, Braided trim, Baker's twine, dimensionals

My Meadow Thanks - Try Stampin on Tuesday #439

It's hard to pick a favourite stamp set in Stampin' Up's new Mini Catalogue and "My Meadow" right now  is at the top.  This is the stamp set used to make the card for the sketch challenge at Try Stampin' on Tuesday #439 which has an optional theme of "thank you"

On a piece of Whisper White card stock, I used the various stamps from the "My Meadow" stamp set to create the above scene- an early spring morning in the meadow with some ground fog.

I started with the bridge, added a stream under it, and some grass on the banks, and then some trees on both sides of the banks.  Randomly stamped grass on the banks and around the tree bases provide some interest and texture. Tulips stamps on top of the grass add a bit of colour as do the blossoms on the trees. Some green is also stamped on the tree tops because it is Spring and leaves emerge after the blossoms fall off.

The bridge over the stream has as a gravel path leading up to it. Behind you can see a glimpse of a body of water. Early morning fog can be seen creeping over the landscape.

Some clouds, and birds finish the scene.

The art piece is matted with Early Espresso before being added to the card front with dimensionals.

The sentiment from Peaceful Moments, is stamped with Early Espresso on Whisper White, matted with Early Espresso card stock and mounted at the bottom of the art piece with dimensionals.

Two banners notched at one end are adhered to the Old Olive card base behind the lower art piece. One banner is Calypso coral card stock the same colour as the flowers, and a larger one is Early Espresso card stock.  A green gem is added to each notched end.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  My Meadow Peaceful Moments
Inks:  Early Espresso, Balmy Blue, Mossy Meadow, Calypso Coral, Basic Gray
Papers:  Old Olive , Early Espresso, Calypso Coral, Whisper White
Accessories:  Dimensionals, Green gems (non SU)

Happy Birthday in My Meadow

Creating scenes with the new "My Meadow" stamp set is easier than it looks.  The main challenge is determining what images each of the stamps represent and how you can best use them.  Stamping each on a scrap of paper was very helpful for me.

My second card is a birthday card.  This spring card looks almost like a watercolor.

I started by stamping the bridge and the stream running under it.  Then I added some grass, trees, a water line, clouds and birds in the sky.  For some colour, some red tulips were added, and Flirty Flamingo was used to stamp blossoms on the trees rather than green leaves, although I did stamp some green leaves in amongst the blossoms as well.

Clear Wink of Stella was applied to the water line and the stream running under the bridge.

The sentiment from "Sending You Thoughts" SAB was stamped directly onto the art piece near the top.

This art piece that was created was die cut using a stitched rectangle die, matted with a slightly larger die cut Early Espresso rectangle and adhered to an Old Olive card front.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  My Meadow, Sending you Thoughts (SAB)
Inks:  Early Espresso, Balmy Blue, Mossy Meadow, Flirty Flamingo, Lovely Lipstick, Basic Gray
Papers:  Old Olive, Early Espresso, Whisper White
Accessories:  Stitched Rectangle Dies, Clear Wink of Stella

My Meadow - a Thank You card

I loved the Stampin' Up "Water Front" stamp set.  I loved the "Snow Front" Stamp set.  And now Stampin' Up has come up with the  "My Meadow" stamp set - another stamp set to create your own scenes- this time Spring and Summer.  I am in love!

Tonight I just started playing, not having a definite scene in mind.  One stamp led to another, and before I knew it I had a Spring scene by the water, featuring a Gazebo.

The finished image was die cut with the Stitched Rectangle Die and added to a Crumb Cake card front at a slight angle.

An Early Espresso frame, die cut with 2 sizes of Stitched Rectangle dies, was adhered over top of the scene creating a framed look.

The sentiment, from "Sending You Thoughts" was stamped directly onto the sky using Early Espresso ink.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  My Meadow, Sending You Thoughts (SAB)
Inks:
Sky and clouds and water:  Balmy Blue
Gazebo, trees:  Early Espresso
Ground:  Crumb Cake and Early Espresso
Grass and flower stems/leaves and leaves:  Mossy Meadow, Old Olive
Birds:  Basic Gray
Flowers:  Lovely LIpstick
Papers:  Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Whisper White
Accessories:  Stitched Rectangle Dies
