Congratulations on Your Engagement - a Confetti Card

When my sister phoned to tell me that my niece was engaged to be married I was absolutely delighted, so I immediately sat down and made a very special card for her.

I had seen a demo of a confetti card done earlier in the week, so I thought what a neat engagement card that would made.

Leave me a comment if you would like me to do a tutorial.

First I cut two pieces of 4 by 3 pieces of paper - one a piece of Something borrowed DSP and one Whisper White.  Holding then together I die cut a Heart shape through both layers using the heart framelits.

The word "Congrats", from the stamp set "Your Perfect Day" was embossed with white embossing powder on a piece of Window Sheet (I didn't want the other words on the sentiment so I covered them with scotch tape).

The window sheet was attached to the back of the die cut DSP with snail adhesive.

In the meantime, I made a small pouch cutting down a clear envelope.  Then, using a 1/8" hand held punch, I punched numerous confetti pieces in whisper white, sahara sand, crisp cantalope and silver glimmer.  These pieces were put inside the pouch to which sticky strip tape was applied to the both open ends.  After the confetti was inside, the pouch was taped closed.  This pouch was attached to the window sheet, and then both were attached to the Whisper White heart.  So the pouch with the confetti is between the 2 layers of paper.

If you look closely you can see the confetti in the pouch under the window sheet.  It was hard taking a picture because of the glare of the light on the window sheet.

The base card is Sahara Sand, layered with Whisper White and then Your Perfect Day DSP.  On the left I attached a piece of 7/8" Sahara Sand lace trim.  A bow made out of the same trim was adhered to this ribbon, and a piece of Crisp Cantalope tied around it.

The sentiment "Congratulations on your engagement" are from a retired stamp set "Love to Laughter" and was embossed with white embossing powder on Crisp Cantalope cardstock.  This was die cut using the Itty Bitty Banner framelit die.  It was attached to the lower half of the card part way over the heart using dimensionals.  A strip of rhinestones was added below the sentiment.

Five flowers from the "Petite Petals" stamp set were stamped in Crisp Cantalope and punched using the coordinating punch.  They were added to the front of the card using glue dots.

Here's the supplies I used:

Altered Valentine Journal with Eggshell Mosaic Heart

I purchased a Christmas apiral Journal at Target for $1.00.  The journal included a pen which you will see in the spine of the journal.
I had some retired Valentine paper (not enouth to cover both front and back - so I used 2 different kinds and covered the seam with a strip or Real Red cardstock) so decided to make it into a Valentine journal.

But I wanted to try a technique first.  This technique will be done in class in the next month or so, so I wanted to be sure I could do it.  The technique is the Eggshell Mosaic Background, and the tutorial is on Splitcoaststampers here

I knew I was going to do this technique so I have been saving egg shells since Christmas.

So, yesterday I die cut a heart using the Heart framelits using SU's Coaster Board (you need a thick cardstock for this so the Coaster Board is perfect) and using the tutorial I finished the project.  Only instead of Alcohol inks, I used Alcohol and reinkers (Real Red and Pink Pirouette)

This heart became the focal image of the Journal.

The eggshell mosaic heart was attached to a doilie die cut using the Darling Doilie thinlet die.  I die cut it in Whisper White, but using heat and stick powder I applied Halogram glitter to it.

The rose I made using the Fun Flower die and Pink Pirouette paper.  The smaller roses are from retired Artisan Embellishment kit.

The word "LOVE" is White Simply Pressed Clay using the Alphanumeric Simply Pressed Clay Mold.  The letters were coloured using SU markers (Real Red and Pink Pirouette).  The clay heart was coloured with a Coastal Cabana marker.  After they were adhered to the journal and the glue was dry I added Dazzling diamonds to them.

I made the corner pieces using a retired Square scallop punch and a 1 1/4" square punch.

Some lace ribbon was added along the spine of the journal.

In addition I used a Pink Pirouette marker and a sizzlet leaf die (retired)

True Love - Technostamper #296

Another cold day today so a good day to stay indoors and play - which I haven't done in a long time.
This card is for the Technostamper challenge here  At first I was going to put banners across the top and then hearts kept dancing in my head so I went for hearts.

I started with a Coastal Cabana base layered with Whisper White cardstock and then some designer paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series paper pack.  In the center I adhered another rectangle of Coastal Cabana.
I then strung a piece of silver baker's twine across the top leaving long ends at each end.  The hearts were die cut in Real Red cardstock using the smallest of the Hearts framelit; the smaller heart was punched with the small heart punch using red glimmer paper.  The two were adhered together and then attached to the Baker's twine using glue dots.
The sentiment is stamped using Read Red ink - from the Follow My Heart stamp set.

Stamps: Follow my Heart
Ink: Real Red
Papers: Coastal Cabana, Whisper White, Fresh Prints Designer Series paper pack, Real Red, Red glimmer
Accessories: Hearts framelits, small heart punch, Silver Baker's twine, glue dots

This year I want to wish them a wonderful anniversary and no grounded planes will prevent me from attending the celebration
