More of You - Try Stampin' on Tuesday #464

This card was made using the sketch challenge at Try Stampin on Tuesday #464 here

This 5 by 5" square top folding card has a Seaside Spray card stock base.  Layered on that is Whisper White followed by Playing with Patterns DSP.  Both the Whisper White and DSP do not go all the way to the bottom of the card, but stop short about an inch from the bottom,
At the bottom edge is placed a die cut piece of Seaside Spray card stock; above that is a 1/4"
shimmer Seaside Spray ribbon and bow.

In the upper left corner is an offset Whisper White die cut circle.  Placed in the circle are two flowers from Tasteful Touches colored with Seaside Spray Stampin Blends with Daffodil Delight in the center.  For added texture some Sunshine Flower Soft was added to the flower centers.  Both flowers were fussy cut and added to the circle using dimensionals.

For the leaves Garden Green was used to stamp them, and they were die cut using the fern dies.  A vellum leaf was also die cut.  The leaves from "Forever Fern" were tucked under each flower.

The sentiment is from "Free as a Bird", stamped in Misty Moonlight, and added to the right of the circle.
To finish the card, some In Color 2019 - 2021 Faceted Dots were added randomly and clear Wink of Stella applies to the flower petals.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Tasteful Touches, Free as a Bird, Forever Ferns
Inks:  Black Memento, Stampin Blends (Seaside Spray, Daffodil Delight, Misty Moonlight), Garden Green

The World Needs More of You - Try Stampin on Tuesday #419

The sketch challenge with Try Stampin' on Tuesday #419  has an additional element of embossing, therefore the card I have submitted to this challenge uses heat embossing as well as dry embossing using an embossing folder.

I apologize for the lighting exposure of the card.  For some reason, no matter what I did I could not get the exposure right.

The thick Whisper White base is layered with a Whisper White layer embossed with the Delicate Lace embossing folder to which Balmy Ink had been applied.

The focal point of this card is the birds die cut with a layering square die from a larger image of birds sitting on a branch.  The die cut image was coloured with watercolour pencils and a blender pen after which Heat and Stick powder was used to apply Dazzling Diamonds over the entire surface.

After matting with Balmy Blue card stock, it was adhered to a square of Bird Ballad DSP situated at an angle  below it. This was adhered to the embossed card front.

A sentiment, embossed with Soft Suede ink on Whisper White, was added below the focal point,  A 1/4" glittery pink ribbon was folded below it.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Free as a Bird
Inks:  Black Memento, Watercolour pencils, Balmy Blue, Soft Suede, Versa Mark
Papers:  Thick Whisper White, Whisper White, Balmy Blue, Bird Ballad DSP
Accessories:  Delicate Lace embossing folder, Clear embossing powder, Heat and stick powder, Dazzling Diamonds, Dimensionals, 1/4" Petal Pink glimmer ribbon, Layering square framelits

Relaxing at the Beach - Try Stampin' on Tuesay #414

The hot lazy days of summer are finally here!  The Spring was rainy and cool, great for the garden, but not so great for enjoying the outdoors.  Hot, humid weather is forecast, but hopefully not as hot as what Europe is experiencing.  However, hot enough to enjoy the beach.

That's exactly what the gentleman in the card I designed for the challenge with Try Stampin' on Tuesday #414 (theme summer fun) is doing - relaxing at the beach.

.

The card base is Coastal Cabana card stock, layered with a piece of Whisper White card stock embossed with the Subtle Texture embossing folder inked with Coastal Cabana ink.  I love the tone on tone effect.

On this layer are added two different panels of DSP matted with Gray Granite card stock. One strip (the smaller) is from Follow Your Art DSP, and the larger one with the Sea Gulls from Bird Ballad DSP.  I sponged the edges of both DSP panels with Gray Granite ink to blend the two different designs for the purposes of this card.

The gentleman relaxing on a chair on the beach is from "A Good Man".  The ocean behind him is stamped using a Waterfront stamp ; the sky washed with a watercolor pencil and an aqua painter, and the beach sand created using glimmer embossing paste coloured with Sahara Sand reinker.
I stamped some birds in the sky from "Sailing Home".
Because the sentiment was too long for the art piece, I using a Basic Black marker to high light the words so that the sentiment could fit on the art piece. Dimensionals are used to add the sentiment to the art piece.

This art piece is added to the card front with dimensionals.

To finish the card, a bow made using the braided Sahara Sand trim is added to the bottom of the smaller DSP panel.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  A Good Man,ncils, Free as a Bird, Waterfront, Sailing Home
Inks:  Coastal Cabana, Black Memento, Sahara Sand reinker, watercolor pencAils, Gray Granite
Papers:  Coastal Cabana, Whisper White, Gray Granite, Bird Ballad DSP, Follow Your Art DSP.
Accessories:  Subtle Texture 3D Embossing folder, 1/16 Sahara Sand braided twine, Dimensionals, Shimmer Embossing paste, Aqua painter

Free As a Bird Corner Pop Up Card

The new Annual catalogue is finally here and finally can display some of the wonderful stamps and DSP as well as ribbons and embellishments.
The Free As A Bird stamp set with its coordinating DSP is one of these gorgeous bundles and I used them to make this Corner Pop Up card.
I have not made this particular fun fold before, but I found several tutorials on You Tube to help me, two of which I found the most helpful here and here
Below is the finished card.

Opened up, this is what the card looks like.  You can see the score lines clearly.

Close up of Left Corner.  The birds are fussy cut from the DSP and mounted on a 1 3/4" Whisper White circle.

Close up of  Right Corner

Close up of bird and flowers on easel.

The card can be folded up for mailing, but an envelope will have to be custom made for it.

Here's what I used:
  • Thick Whisper White card stock 8 1/4 by 8 1/4" Scored at 4 1/8" turned and scored at 4 1/8" again. Cut lower score line  to center.  Burnish all score lines.
  • Blushing Bride card stock 1 piece 3 7/8 by 3 7/8" cut into 2 triangles
  • DSP - Bird Ballad DSP   1 piece 3 3/4 by 3 3/4" cut into 2 triangles - add this to Blushing Bride card stock triangles and adhere to two upper corners.
  • Blushing Bride card stock 1 piece 3 7/8 by 3 7/8"
  • DSP - Bird Ballad DSP  1 piece 3 3/4 by 3 3/4"
  • Whisper White 1 piece 3 1/2 by 3 1/2"  - adhere this to DSP and to Blushing Bride and adhere to bottom piece.
  • 3 birds fussy cut from DSP
  • 3 1 3/4" Whisper White circles.  Adhere birds to circles and add to upper triangles
  • Two stitched rectangle pieces formed into an easel
  • Image of bird , 3 flowers and a leaf sprig stamped on Whisper White , coloured with Stampin' Blends, and die cut with Bird Ballad dies.  Arrange on Easel.  Adhere small rhinestones in center of flowers.  Adhere easel to Whisper White base
  • Stamp sentiment on smaller rectangle die and adhere to easel. Add Easel to lower card. Add Bird Ballad trinket above sentiment
  • Tie 5/8" organza ribbon into a bow and adhere below easel.
Stamp:  Free as a Bird
Inks:  Black Memento, Stampin Blends (Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake, Old Olive)
Papers:  Thick Whisper White, Bird Ballad DSP, Blushing Bride, Whisper White
Accessories:  1 3/4" circle punch, Bird Ballad trinkets, Stitched Nested Dies

We're the Best of Friends -The Paper Players # 440 and a new catalogue sample

Do you ever have one of these nights where you wake up at 3 am and can't get  back to sleep? It is now close to 5 am and I've been up since that ungodly hour.  I've had too many of these nights.  However, I try to make the most of the quiet time to get caught up with my blogging.

Yesterday evening I experimented with making a Z-fold card using the Nesting Label dies and the new "Free as a Bird" stamp set with the theme of 'friendship".  This was  for the theme challenge with The Paper Players

A traditional Z-Fold card made with a Balmy Blue base is layered with Whisper White and then 3 different patterns of the Bird Ballad DSP.

The focal piece is a Nesting Label die of watercolor paper, within which a Balmy Blue watercolor wash was created to form a backdrop for the 'friends'.  The 'friends' are birds that I fussy cut directly from the DSP - the branch that one is perched on is die cut in Soft Suede using the Seasonal Layers die.  The leaves and flowers were stamped on a separate piece of Whisper White card stock, using the Free as a Bird stamp set, coloured with Stampin' Blends and then fussy cut.  These were attached to the die cut branch.  The 'friend' looks like he just dropped by as I placed him off the edge of the label die.

The label is adhered to the card front by one edge only, the biflagged sentiment beneath it. A Whisper White label adhered to the inside is positioned in such a manner as to not been seen when card is closed.

Three feathers, also fussy cut from the DSP, were adhered to the upper left of the focal image.  A bow, made using  Linen thread was added at the top of the feather cluster.

This stamp set is available for order on June 3, 2019

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Free as a Bird
Inks:  Black Memento, Balmy Blue, Stampin' Blends - Petal Pink, Calypso Coral, Old Olive
Papers:  Balmy Blue, Whisper White, Bird Ballad DSP, Soft Suede, Watercolor
Accessories:  Nested Label dies, Linen thread, Colorful Seasons die

Free As a Bird Boxed Note Card Set - a Case & Catalogue Sneak Peak

Have I mentioned that I like the Bird Bundle in the new annual catalogue?  Maybe once or twice??

I saw this boxed note card set on Pinterest and loved it so much I cased it. Unfortunately I cannot find the original author to give her credit, so if anyone recognizes her work please let me know.

The notecards are 4 by 8" Whisper White scored at 4 to form 4 by 4" note cards.  If you use a 12 by 12" sheet of Whisper White you can cut all four from 1 piece - with a little bit left over.  Each card front is matted with Petal Pink card stock followed  by Free as a Bird DSP (bird cages)
A 2" circle punch used to punch birds directly from the DSP, is matted with a stitched Petal Pink larger circle.  This is adhered to the DSP using dimensionals.

Each note card has a different sentiment on the front.

Envelopes for the note cards were made using the Envelope punch board.  This wonderful tool is retiring.

The envelope punch board was also used to make the box, which was finished in a similar manner to the cards. In addition two clusters of flowers were cut from the DSP and added to the lid, and a bow made of 5/8" organdy Petal Pink/white ribbon was added over the image.  I also added a Free as a Bird trinket.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Free as a Bird
Ink:  Soft Suede
Papers:  Whisper White, Petal Pink, Free as a Bird DSP
Accessories:  Envelope punch board, 2" circle punch, Stitched Circle Framelit, Free as a Bird trinket, 5/8" Pink and White Organdy ribbon, dimensionals

Free as a Bird - Another catalogue sneak peak

 Birds are harbingers of Spring.
I keep waiting for my favourite season to arrive, but all I keep hearing is the 'cold' word and even 'snow'
So, I'm hoping this card will remind you of Spring.

These little birds have got to be a favourite of mine (as well as several other new images but who's counting). The little one at the end seems to be singing his heart out.

The stamparatus was used to stamp the image from the "Free as a Bird" stamp set onto Watercolour paper. Then using ink pads and an aqua painter, I painted the birds with Daffodil Delight, with shading done with Crushed Curry, the leaves Old Olive, the branch Early Espresso, and the flowers Melon Mambo.  I used a pumpkin pie marker to colour the beaks.  Balmy Blue was used to create a watercolour wash behind the birds. As with a lot of the new suites, a trinket, specifically for this one, is added below the branch on the right.

The image was die cut with the Stitched Nested Labels die and adhered to the card front using dimensionals.

The card base is a 5 1/2 by 11" Balmy Blue card stock scored at 5 1/2 to form a 5 1/2" square  top fold card.  The card front is first layered with some beautiful floral pattern Bird Ballad DSP, followed by some Whisper White card stock and then with another pattern (pink dots) of the DSP.

Finally, a 1 1/2" strip of Balmy Blue card stock is adhered to the left side covering all the layers.

Along the right card edge a piece of 3/8" scallop lace ribbon and ribbon knot is added.

The sentiment is also die cut with the same die set as the image and adhered to the right below the art piece.

Some previously made paper flowers, left over from another project, are added on the left side below the image. Some leaves, punched in Old Olive with the Leaf Punch, is added with the flowers

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Free as a Bird
Inks:  Black Memento, Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Early Espresso, Melon Mambo, Balmy Blue
Papers:  Balmy Blue, Whisper White, Bird Ballad DSP, Old Olive
Accessories:  3/8" scallop lace trim, bird ballad trinket, Stitched nested label dies, dimensionals. leaf punch.
