Leaping into Easter - Try Stampin on Tuesday #600

For challenge #600 at Try Stampin on Tuesday, I made a slim line card as I wanted to include all three characters for the theme challenge. ie. bunny, duck and lamb. I used a retired Easter stamp set " Welcome Easter".

The card base is Daffodil Delight, layered with Basic White card stock embossed with the Quatrefoil Embossing Folder. Before adding the Basic White layer to the Card base, a piece of Daffodil Delight ribbon was added towards the left side.

On a piece of Basic White card stock, and using the new masking paper and the stamparatus, the lamb, duck and bunny from the "Welcome Easter" stamp set were stamped one on top of the other. In addition, a tiny bee can be seen buzzing over head and some flowers and pebble embellishments are in the grass below. The Easter characters look like they are playing leap frog. All 3 were coloured with Stampin' Blends. On impulse I placed a small fussy cut flower above the right ear of the lamb.

After they were coloured, using the new small blender brushes, some Balmy Blue ink was added in the sky around the wobbly Easter characters, and some Garden Green on the ground below

The focal image piece was matted with Daffodil Delight card stock and added to the left side of the embossed Basic White layer using dimensionals.

The Easter sentiment was from another retired stamp set "Fable Friends" .  A circle from the Stylish Shapes dies was used to die cut this sentiment rather than a square. It was added to the lower right side of the focal piece.

I added some Glossy Accents to the nose and flower of the lamb, the beak and feet the chick,  and the nose of the bunny.

Easter Greetings - Try Stampin on Tuesday #594

This card was made for the challenge with Try Stampin' on Tuesday #594.

The challenge can be singular or two fold ie. sketch only, or sketch with a topic, the topic being "Furry Friends".

I decided that I would do both - the sketch and the topic.  Since my card is an Easter card, I chose a goose as my furry friend, only technically a goose has feathers and not fur.

Instead of an A2 card, I made a 5 by 7" card.

First of all, I apologize for the lighting.

This is my first Easter Card, and I chose a Retired stamp set "Fable Friends to make it.

The card base is Gorgeous Grape, layered with a Purple Posy coloured polka dot patterned DSP from the Sale-a-bration Dainty Flower DSP.  On top of that is added a Basic White cardstock layer embossed with the Quatrefoil Tile embossing folder.

An oval, die cut with a Layering Oval die from the Dainty Flower DSP , provides the backdrop for the mother Goose and her 3 gooselings. To provide a bit of texture for this oval background, I embossed it with the Timeworn Type embossing folder.

That same strip of DSP is extended onto the embossed layer on the front to provide a ledge for the goose egg to lay on. It was added to a piece of Gorgeous grape card stock, one edge of which was die cut with a zig zag border die

The images were coloured with Stampin' Blends as indicated below.  Some Shimmery Crystal Effects was then added to certain parts of each goose/gosling.

Mother Goose:  So Saffron, Purple Posy, Highland Heather, Granny Apple Green, Pumpkin Pie

Gosling 1:  So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Granny Apple green

Gosling 2: So Saffron, Highland Heather, Pumpkin Pie

Gosling 3: So Saffron, Highland Heather, Pumpkin Pie

To finish the card, I added some Gorgeous Grape glossy dots on the left side.

Supplies Used:

StampFable Friends (retired

Inks:  Black Memento, Stampin Blends (see post)

Papers:  Gorgeous Grape, Basic White, Dainty Flowers DSP (Sale-a-bration)

Accessories:  Layering Oval dies, Basic Border dies, Quatrefoil Embossing Folder, Timeworn Type Embossing Folder, Shimmer Crystal Effects, Glossy Dots, Dimensionals.

Spring flower, the Crocus - The Paper Players #482

Like a lot of people I am anxious for spring to arrive.  In anticipation for the warmer months ahead, I have planted my bulbs in pots indoors and started my Marigold seeds.  It looks like they're as anxious as I am for Spring, as the bulbs are already sticking their heads above the ground, and the Marigold seeds are sprouting. As well  I have nurtured about 70 geranium plants, some of which are now blooming.

One of the flowers I look forward to seeing every spring is the crocus.  Just when you think winter will never lose its grip, this brave little flower pushes through the snow to put on a very colourful show - usually mid March.  These 2" to 4" tall Dutch bulbs bloom in colours of pink, red, purple, yellow, blue and orange.  I must admit I have only seen the purple and yellow ones.

For this week's clean and simple spring flower themed challenge with The Paper Players, I chose to highlight the crocus, a flower featured on one of the Easter stamps "Easter Promise".

The crocus is stamped and coloured surrounded by the embossed image of the largest of the Sweetly stitched die.  This embossed image is created using Embossing mats and the Big Shot.

Stampin' Blends are used to colour the image, using both light and dark Daffodil Delight and Granny Apple Green.  To intensify the colour, some Seaside Spray is lightly washed around the flower.

1/4" Whisper White crumpled seam binding is coloured with a Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blend, make into a bow and added to the flower stems with a glue dot.

The sentiment, from "Fable Friends' is die cut with an Ornate die that resembles a tag and is added with a dimensional from the card front near the bow.

To finish the card, some Shimmering Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds is added to the flowers, and yellow self adhesive sequins are added randomly around the flower.

Supplies Used:

Stamps:  Easter Promise, Fable Friends

Inks:  Black Memento, Stampin' Blends (Light and Dark Daffodil Delight, and Granny Apple Green, Light Seaside Spray

Papers:  Thick Whisper White, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight

Accessories:  Sweetly Stitched Dies, Embossing Mats, Ornate dies, 1/4" Whisper White crumpled Seam Binding, Shimmering Crystal Effects, Dazzling Diamonds, Self Adhesive sequins, Dimensionals

Below is a picture of some crocus' peeking their heads above the snow.

Easter Greetings

Yes it is only January, but when you do classes one works ahead.  So....on to Easter!

The stamp set "Fable Friends" has some cute characters that can be used for Easter, new baby, or even children's birthday.  My card today focuses on Easter.

Meet Mother Goose wearing an outfit in Highland Heather. The outfit is actually 3D as the image was stamped nd coloured twice and the second image had the outfit fussy cut and then added on the original image using dimensionals.

The clouds in the sky are from "Let the Good Times Roll" and are second generation stamping using Balmy Blue ink.  The full strength ink was too overpowering.

Laying Oval Framelits were used to die cut the image with the scallop oval cut in Gorgeous Grape. The two layers were adhered together using dimensionals and then added to the card front.

The card base is Highland Heather, layered with Whisper White embossed with the Tin Tile Embossing folder.  A strip of the new Gingham Gala DSP (smaller pattern) is added towards the left side.  Two pieces of the SAB organza ribbon are placed on the left side of this strip - one in Highland Heather, and the other in Mango Melody - the latter picking up the colours of the beak and feet of the goose.  Bows in their respective colours are added at the top.

The sentiment, stamped in Highland Heather, is punched with the Everyday Label punch.  It was reinserted into the punch a couple of times to get it to the size I wanted.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Fable Friends, Let the Good Times Roll
Inks:  Black Memento, Highland Heather, Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green, Stampin' Blends (Highland Heather light and dark, Mango Melody light and Pumpkin Pie dark, Soft Seafoam dark)
Papers:  Highland Heather, Whisper White, Gorgeous Grape, Gingham Gala
Accessories:  Layering Oval Framelits, SAB Organza Ribbon in Highland Heather and Mango Melody, Everyday Label Punch, Dimensionals, Tin Tile Embossing Folder, Glue dots

Hello Spring - Folded Paper Frame Card

I know this is wishful thinking.  I know Spring is months away still.  Yes I wish for Spring.

The Fable Friends stamp set is really about Easter, and Easter this year is in April - a month where Spring is just around the corner.  So I made this Folded Paper Frame  card below with my wish for Spring on it.  I used the tutorial with Splitcoaststampers here to make the folded frame.

The chipmunk holding a flower, from "Fable Friends", was stamped on a 2 3/4" piece of Whisper White and coloured with blendabilities. The dots on the background are stamped in Pool Party and are from "Waterfront".

This art piece is mounted on a 3 by 3" piece of Pacific Point card stock and set aside while I made the frame.

Using the score board, a 4 1/4 by 4 1/4" piece of Gingham card stock, was laid on the board with two of the corners on the 3" score point.  Each corner, in turn, was scored at 1" and 1 1/2", then folded into the center after which the tip was folded back to form the frame.

The frame was unfolded and the image piece was inserted and adhered in the center.   Dimensionals were placed on the inside folds closest to the edge before they were folded to the center to give the frame more volume. Each tip was then folded back and held back with a dimensional.

The completed frame was mounted on a 3 1/4 by 3 1/4" square of Pacific Point card stock and mounted on the embossed Whisper White layer of the 5" square card front.  The Whisper White layer was embossed with the dot to dot embossing folder before it was added to the Pacific Point card base.

A double bow made with the SAB blue organza ribbon was added with a glue dot on the left side of the frame.

The sentiment, from "Fable Friends", was stamped with Pacific Point ink, matted with Pacific Point card stock and adhered to the card front under the folded paper frame.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Fable Friends, Waterfront
Inks:  Black Memento, Stampin' Blends (Daffodil Delight Light and Dark, Crumb Cake light and dark, Old Olive light and dark, Night of Navy light, Smokey Slate, Pool Party light)
Papers;  Pacific Point, Whisper White, Blue Gingham DSP
Accessories:  Blue Organza ribbon (SAB), Dot to Dot embossing folder, Dimensionals, Score Board
