Jingle All the Way - Freshly Made Sketches #212

I wanted to use the Delicate Ornament Thinlet Die to make the card for the sketch challenge with Freshly Made Sketches but do you think I could find the thinlets?  Noooooooo!  For days I looked everywhere, but could not find it.
Today, I cleaned the entire craft room, took all the stamp sets off the shelves, took all the embossing folders out of the drawers, as well as all the framelits, but it wasn't anywhere.  Finally I started taking items off the top of the cabinet, and there stuck at an angle towards the back wall were the framelits.
Well, I now have a clean craft room.

  • The basic cardstock is Night of Navy, layered with Whisper White cardstock.
  • On a separate piece of Night of Navy cardstock, the ornament was die cut.  In the center of the die cut ornament, I adhered the horse and sleigh. Two way glue pen was used to adhere Dazzling diamonds to the snow under the sleigh.
  • Dots of glue from the Fine tipped glue pen were randomy applied to the sky and dazzling diamonds added.
  • The ornament topper was die cut with the die topper using dazzling diamond glimmer paper.  Some silver cord was inserted through it, and then a bow was made and added to the top using a glue dot.
  • The completed ornament was added to a piece of Whisper White cardstock embossed with the Lucky Stars embossing folder using dimensionals.  This piece was matted with Night of navy cardstock.
  • DSP (Home for Christmas) was cut in the same dimensionals as the other piece.  It was covered with a piece of Dryer sheet and dazzling details, then matted with Night of Navy cardstock.
  • This piece of adhered to the card front, with the focal piece of added overlapping and slightly lower than the DSP piece (with dimensionals).
  • The sentiment is from "Jingle All the Way".

Happy New Year 2012 The Friday Mashup #38

Winter took long enough, but on Tuesday it arrived with a vengeance - rain, turning to freezing rain, then snow, followed by rain, and then a flash freeze.  Wednesday I had to drive my son to work for 8 a.m. and it took me 1/2 hour just to scrape the ice off the car.  The roads were just terrible, but I made it to his work in the north end of the city back to my home in the south end, without incident.  More snow arrived Wednesday morning.  The New Year should look very different from Christmas Day, which was decidedly green (brown really).
Tomorrow is New Year's Eve, so let me take this moment and wish everyone a wonderful New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.  If you are travelling, please take care.
Which brings me to the Friday Mashup challenge this week.  It's all about the New Year and sparkle.....

  1. Make a project that "Sparkles".
  2. Or Make a project "Celebrating the New Year".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project "Celebrating the New Year that Sparkl

Here is my card.  The dryer sheet technique was used as well as my favourite stamp set "Lovely as a Tree"

Stamps: Lovely as a Tree, Teeny Tiny wishes
Inks: Black Stazon, Basic Black
Papers: Night of Navy, Silver Glimmer, Whisper White
Accessories: Timeless Type Junior alphabet sizzlit die, Snowburst emobssing folder, Curly Label punch, Dazzling diamonds, Used dryer sheet (non SU), dimensionals

The dryer technique is a very easy technique, but the result is WOW!!  The picture doesn't do it justice.
Stamp image with Stazon ink.  Cover entire image with the Stampin' Up glue stick, apply the dryer sheet immediately and cover entire sheet with Dazzling diamonds.  Trim sheet and attach to the back of your card stock.  Be prepared to be covered with glitter.

Now you do the Mashup challenge.  Create your New Year sparkle card and upload it to the Friday Mashup home page here
