Floral Phrases Thank You - Tissue Paper Technique

Stamping on Tissue Paper, this month's challenge with the Canadian Die Cut Exchange group, is such an easy technique to do and the only special supplies needed is a piece of white tissue paper.

I have done this technique before, but it's been a while, so I referred to a video tutorial by Brandy Cox here

The stamp set I used is one I will be using in my class this week - Floral Phrases.  I also used the Detailed Floral thinlet dies to make the sleeve for the card.

The images were stamped on Tissue Paper ( use a piece larger than the card) using Peekaboo Peach ink.  The sentiment is from "Thankful Thoughts"

When the ink was dry, the tissue paper was crumpled into a ball, then gently uncrumpled leaving in the wrinkles.

I used a glue stick to generously apply glue to a piece of Whisper White cardstock, but Mod Podge can be used as well.  The tissue paper was gently and carefully applied to the glued Whisper White piece and the excess tissue paper cut off (I used scissors, but a trimmer can be used).  This was adhered to a Peekaboo Peach mat, and a 3/8" ruffled Peekaboo Peach ribbon attached to the right side before attaching it to the Whisper White card base.

I created the card pouch using a 4 3/4 by 10" piece of Peekaboo Peach cardstock and scored it at
5 1/2".  The larger of the 2 Detailed Floral thinlet and the cutting piece were placed in the center of the top half  about 1/2" away from the score line.

After running it through the Big Shot, the edges were trimmed, the seam burnished with a bone folder, and a small bit of tombo glue applied to the outer edges to form the card pouch.

These are 3 other items I will have on display at class on Wednesday - a basket (Lee Ann Greff author), envelope (notecard size), and a thank you card.

The basket, as you can see, is large enough to hold cards, and is sturdy enough to contain spa items.  It is made using Mint Macaron cardstock.  LeeAnn has the tutorial on her blog here

The envelope was made using the envelope punch board , using  watermelon wonder envelope paper . A piece of Very Vanilla cardstock was placed behind the die cut to protect the privacy of the contents.

The third item is a  thank you card I cased from Pinterest.  It is done using Blushing Bride cardstock, and ink, and gold satin ribbon.

This stamp set and coordinating framelits is very versatile.  You can use it on napkins, to make napkin rings, tea light holders, popcorn bags, etc.  Just use you imagination.

Card with Ombre watercoloured background.

I've been having fun today playing with the new Ombre ink pads, creating backgrounds and then making cards. I was inspired by Patty Bennett's video on the technique.

To make the backgrounds, you need watercolour paper, 2 or 3 colours of the ombre ink pads featured on page 180 of the annual catalogue, a spritzer, and something to protect your work space.

The ombre ink pads come in 3 colours:  Bermuda Bay, Rich Razzelberry, and  Calypso Coral.

Since I knew I was making a card with the background, I cut the watercolour paper to 51/4 by 4".

For the first sample, I used Bermuda Bay, and Rich Razzelberry.

Starting with the Bermuda Bay ink pad (with the lightest colour to the top), swipe the pad across the top of the watercolour paper - either diagonally in strokes or in circular motions.  I did the same with the Rich Razzellberry ink pad.

Next spritz generously with water, and let it dry. I turned the dry background piece upside down. The colour becomes a lighter shade as it dries.

• I die cut the Detailed Floral Thinlet in Whisper White and adhered it to the watercolour background with the fine tipped glue.
• The sentiment and the heart were die cut from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlets which I applied to the center.
• The card front was adhered to a Bermuda Bay base.

Here's a second card, but this time the background was made using the Calypso Coral and Bermuda Bay background.
