From the Heart - Just Add Ink #406 & Fab Fri #136

I've been making a number of cards lately using the Just Add Color DSP, and this card is no different.  However,  I am entering this card into the sketch challenge at Just Add Ink, and the color challenge at Fab Friday

The tea pot image is from the "Just Add Color" DSP which I obtained as a free product during SAB.  The DSP has some wonderful images and I have made numerous cards from them.

The tea pot was colored with SU markers - Lemon Lime twist, Bermuda Bay and Basic Gray, at times blending the colors together and leaving some white spaces.

The pot was cut out and some 3d lacquer was applied giving it a metallic appearance.  When it was dry it was adhered to a delicate doillie using dimensionals.  This was added to the card front.

Adhering to the color scheme of the Fab Friday challenge, the card base of Bermuda Bay was matted with Basic Gray, and then a layer of the uncolored Just Add Color DSP.  A diagonal strip of Bermuda Bay cardstock was adhered from right to left across the card.

The art piece was adhered on this angled band and a sentiment, from the Petal Palette stamp set was added next to the spout, looking like it was pouring from the pot itself.

Some heart shaped Bermuda Bay metallic embellishments were added to he upper left of the card base, with one being placed on top of the word "heart".  A circular one was adhered to the center of the flower of the pot.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Petal Palette
Inks:  Bermuda Bay, SU Markers (Bermuda Bay, Basic Gray, and Lemon Lime Twist)
Papers:  Bermuda Bay, Basic Gray, Just Add Color DSP, Whisper White
Accessories:  Delicate Doillie, 3D Lacquer, Dimensionals, Bermuda Bay Enamel shapes

April Showers bring - Tulips - Paper Craft Crew Challenges #289

I have been so impatient for the spring flowers to appear!

And they have been so slow in doing so.  The Ice Storm of 2 weeks ago didn't help matters, but the temperature is rising now to more seasonal levels and hopefully we'll see some action - in the plant department anyway.

For the challenge with Paper Craft Crew #289 (April Showers Bring May Flowers) I pulled out a hostess stamp set that will be retiring the end of May.

The Tranquil Tulip stamp set has been a favourite of mine and I have used in on a number of occasions.  I will miss it.

These are my spring flowers - tulips arranged in a Z-fold card.  The base of this card is Wild Wasabi (retiring), scored at  5 1/2 and one panel scored again at  2 3/4".  Each section was layered with Whisper White card stock and then the green diagonal striped Delightfully Daisy DSP.

The tulips were stamped using the Stamparatus, fussy cut, put together with dimensionals and then adhered to a strip of window sheet inside a die cut crate.

For a sturdier structure, the crate was die cut from  a piece of Whisper White card stock stamped with the Woodgrain background stamp.  The edges were sponged lightly with Soft Suede ink.  To allow the crate to fold with the Z fold card, I removed the bottom of the crate and inserted a 1" insert inside for stability and for the tulips to attach to.

This crate was inserted into the Z of the card on 2 sides.  On the top front section I added a strip of Delightfully Daisy DSP as well as the sentiment (from Bunch of Blossoms).

Three colors(Rose Red, Rich Razzelberry and Daffodil Delight)  and 2 sizes of tulips were stamped and fussy cut.  The stems and leaves were also fussy cut, and after sponging all the edges, the flowers were assembled and adhered to a strip of window sheet.  This is turn was adhered to the inside of the wooden crate.

On the front I placed 3 small single tulips in a circle on a small white Doillie and placed a triple white organza ribbon just below them.

Some clear Wink of Stella was applied to the base only of all the tulips.  I found this glitter tended to smear the colour somewhat so limited its application to the base.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Tranquil Tulips (retiring), Bunch of Blossoms, Wood grain
Inks:  Rich Razzelberry, Rose Red, Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, Soft Suede, Basic Black
Papers:  Wild Wasabi, Whisper White, Delightfully Daisy DSP
Accessories:  White Delicate Doillie, 1/4" white organza ribbon, Stamparatus, Window Sheet, Wood Crate framelit die, dimensionals, Clear Wink of Stella

4 Season Calendar

Canada Post recently made an announcement that postage rates were increasing to $1.00 and they were no longer going to deliver rurally and door to door.

That got me thinking about my craft sales where I sell my cards.  I think this will put the brakes on some of my card sales so my emphasis this year is going to be 3D and DYI items.

I saw this neat 4 Season calendar on Pinterest, designed by Lee Ann Graff, that reminded me of a calendar I used to make using another stamp set.  So, I decided to give this one a try. Each season has its own design and 3 month calendar.  You can use the tutorial from here.  The tutorial includes a link to 12 month calendar appropriately sized for the project.

I cased the majority of this calendar, although I did use different stamp sets.

A 5 1/2 by 8 1/2" card was turned into an easel calendar.  Each card front was stamped for each season.

Measurements:
.Basic Black main card 5 12 by 8 1/2:
.4 pieces of Whisper White card stock 4 by 5 1/4"
.Basic Black easel piece 2 by 4 1/4" scored 1" from each end.

Calendars measure 1 3/4 by 4 1/2" with a black mat of 1 7/8 by 4 5/8"

The easel piece was adhered to one end of the calendar underneath the Whisper White layer.  The scored ends act as an easel once its tucked up the other side.

Products Used:
Spring: Best of Sale-a-Bration, Papilion Potpourri stamps, Rich Razzellberry, Old Olive markers, Daffodil delight ink, Butterfly punch, rhinestones.
Summer: Delicate Doilies stamp set, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Primrose Petals ink, Itty Bitty punch shapes, l" circle punch, 3/4" circle punch, rhinestones, large pearls
Fall: Gently Falling stamp set, Tangerine Tango, Summer Starfruit inks, 5/8: crochet ribbon trim, Antique brad
Winter: Serene Snowflake stamp set, Marina Mist ink, rhinestones

I think this would make a great project for my first class of the season.

Another Friday and time for the Sketch Frenzy mini blog hop.  And---it's another week closer to Christmas.  Are you getting excited?
Now that I am finished my craft shows I can concentrate on my own preparations for the Big Event.   But before I do that I needed to make a birthday card for a special someone - so I used my sketch to  make this card . This sketch is great because it provides an opportunity to use some designer papers which I had in mind for this card.

Here is my sketch:

Stamps: Delicate Doilies, On Your Birthday
Inks: Melon Mambo
Papers: Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, Flirtatious Specialty Designer Paper, Melon Mambo
Accessories: Tag punch, Bright's eyelet, 3/8" pink pirouette taffeta ribbon, rhinestones, bright's buttons, glue dots.

Now it's your turn to make something using my sketch.  I'm excited to see what you create.  Don't forget to upload it to the Sketch Frenzy Friday homepage here and then proceed to Patrice's blog here.  Visit the rest of the team member's blogs - the next link will be on Patrice's blog, but if you get lost, there is a list of names and blog addresses in the side bar of  everyone's blogs.

Have a wonderful week everyone!  And have fun creating!
