Mr. & Mrs. - Technostamper #263

My nephew is getting married in June, so I needed a wedding card, using the sketch challenge with Technostamper here to make the card.  It's the first time I've been invited to a family wedding for about 10 years.  It will be nice to see everyone.

The focal image sentiment was stamped with Versa Mark onto Whisper White card stock, and embossed with silver embossing powder.  Then, with a silver Stampin' Dazzle marker I drew lines around the edges of the panel.  This panel was layered first with Silver card stock, and then with Not Quite Navy card stock.  Rhinestones were placed on 3 corners.

The base card is Not Quite Navy, layered with Whisper White, then Silver card stock embossed with the Beautifully Baroque folder.  A Not Quite Navy banner was attached to the left side of the card, and the image panel was adhered so that the left end almost fit over the entire banner.  A smaller Lucky Limeade banner was embossed with the Square Lattice folder and adhered on top of the other banner and part of the image panel

A white crepe flower was made using the 1 1/4" scallop circle punch and the 7/8" scallop circle punch.  A regal brad was inserted in the middle of all layers, and the layers were fluffed up.  I sprayed some silver spritz on the top of the flower.  The flower was adhered to the top of a bow made with 5/8" white organza ribbon and attached to the top of the Lucky Limeade banner with glue dots.

Here's a summary of supplies used:
Stamp: Mr & Mrs
Ink: Versa Mark
Papers: Not Quite Navy, Whisper White, Silver, Lucky Limeade, Crepe Paper
Accessories: Beautifully baroque folder, Square Lattice folder, Silver embossing powder, 5/8" White Organza ribbon, 1 1/4" scallop circle punch, 7/8" scallop circle punch, Regal brad, rhinestones

Thanks for stopping by.

Creped Filter Flower - Tutorial

One of the new products in the spring catalogue is White Creped Filter Paper.  Today I decided to play with it and see if I could make a flower.
But first I wanted to color the paper, deciding to use reinkers in spritzers. To do this, add about 5 to 7 drops of reinker into a mini spritzer filled with tap water.
Here's the flower:

Coloring the Crepe Filter Paper:
Supplies:
  • circle crepe paper
  • 2 spritzers each with a different color of reinker (Calypso Coral & Pretty in Pink)
  • 1 1/4" scallop circle punch
  • neutral brad
  • mat pack & paper piercer
Make sure your table and clothes are protected.

Method:
  1. Spritz the dry white crepe circle with the 2 colors completely covering the surface
     2.  Dry with an embossing tool.  Below you see it dried.

       3.  Fold circle in half, then in half again twice more until it looks like the filter below.

   Forming the Flower:

4.  Insert the folded colored filter into the 1 3/4" scallop circle punch

     5.  Punch, and then separate the layers.  There should be eight flowers. Notice the different shades of colors of each of the flower petals.

     6.  Stack the flowers putting the darkest colored flower on the top.  Pierce a hole in the middle with a paper piercer on  a mat pack and insert a brad. Then start forming the flower by bringing each layer up over the central brad.

     7.  Spritz formed flower with Vanilla smooch.  You're done.
You can try this with different colors of reinkers and different punches and dies.
Here's one I did using the Blossom Petals punch using Island Indigo and Daffodil Delight:

Grateful - Try Stampin' on Tuesday #100

I've been playing with some of the new products in the Spring catalogue, and today it was the Crepe paper.  For the challenge with Try Stampin' on Tuesday here  I dyed the crepe paper and made it into a flower.
Here is the card:

Stamp: Pursuit of Happiness
Inks: Island Indigo, Reinkers (Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight)
Papers: Island Indigo, Whisper White, Sycamore Street DSP, Summer Starfruit, White Crepe Paper, Gumball Green
Accessories: Blossom Petal Punch, Fancy Fan Folder, 2 1/2" circle punch, Antique Brad, 1/4" white stitched grosgrain ribbon, gold smooch, Dazzling details

Here's how I made the flower:
  1. A sheet of white crepe paper was spritzed with 2 colors of reinkers which had been diluted in 2 spritzers filled with tap water (Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight) until the entire surface was covered.
  2. The wet colored paper was dried using an embossing gun
  3. The dried colored paper was folded in half and punched with the blossom petal punch
  4. Each blossom petal's edges were sponged with Island Indigo ink and then spritzed with gold smooch.  The petals curled up on their own.
  5. When dry, the petals were stacked alternating petals and an antique brad was inserted in the center
  6. Dazzling details was applied to the petal edges and allowed to dry.
