Best Catch Birthday - The Paper Players 451

The challenge this week with The Paper Players is to make a clean and simple masculine card.  Clean and simple cards have always been a challenge for me, so I thought I would give this challenge a try.

A clean and simple card is defined as follows:

                                                             Minimal layers and embellishments
Plenty of open space, aka "white" space
Simple and uncluttered

For this clean and simple masculine card the stamp set "Best Catch" and its coordinating dies was used.  To keep it simple and uncluttered I only stamped the fisher man and the birthday sentiment.  The only embellishment is the fish, which was stamped, coloured, layered with 3 other unstamped die cuts, and then added to the card front. A Seaside Spray Stampin' Blend was used to colour around the images and sentiment.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Best Catch, Special Celebrations
Inks: Black Memento, Stampin' Blends to colour the fish (Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake), Night of Navy around the base of the fisherman, and  Seaside Spray around the images.
Papers:  Whisper White, Basic Black, and Seaside Spray
Accessories:  Best Catch dies

There's Only One You - The Paper Players #129

The challenge this week with the Paper Players is a clean and simple sketch.  These are notoriously difficult for me so I hope I accomplished the task.

Here is the card:

I started by inking up the stamp of the seaweed in Always Artichoke and stamping off before stamping it onto a piece of Whisper White card stock.  The image of the Lobster was then stamped over top of the sea week using Black Stazon.  The Lobster was colored with Bravo Burgundy and Basic Gray markers using an aqua painter, then covered with Crystal Effects.  I hope I colored the Lobster correctly as I have never seen a lobster before and had to look up a picture of it on the internet.

Stamps: By the Tide, Vintage Verses (SAB)
Inks: Always Artichoke, Bravo Burgundy, SU markers (Bravo Burgundy, Basic Gray, Always Artichoke)
Papers: Bravo Burgundy, Whisper White
Accessories: Fancy Fan folder, Crystal Effects

All edges were sponged with Bravo Burgundy ink.

Seasons Greetings in Circles - Clean and Simple Stamping 204

One of my personal challenges is designing clean and simple cards as my cards tend to be complex and very detailed. So when I found this blog I immediately decided to challenge myself by doing the sketch challenge here
I must admit that this card took me longer to put together than my more complex ones.  Repeatedly I had to stifle the urge to add this or add that and just stay with the simple sketch challenge.
I think I succeeded with this challenge.  Let me know what you think.
