Enjoy Your Special Day - a Different Corner Pop Up Card

Now that I have made several corner pop up cards, I have discovered a different corner pop up card - made by turning the card up side down. There are many tutorials on how to make these cards.  Here is a link to one of them here

I used thick Whisper White card stock as the base.  The remainder of this card is decorated with Magnolia DSP matted with Mossy Meadow card stock.

Score an 8 1/4 by 8 1/4" piece of card stock at 4 1/8", turn and score at 4 1/8" again.  Without removing the card stock from the trimmer cut along the score line up to the middle.
Score one of the upper squares diagonally.
Fold in half, fold the triangle inward, and overlap the two square pieces.  Adhere them together.  The scored triangular piece becomes the base of the card.

The right upper square is matted with Mossy Meadow with Magnolia Lane DSP (pattern 1) on top.  A Mossy Meadow banner is placed down the middle, and the sentiment, stamped in Black Memento and die cut with a Stitched Die is added about half way up.  The small bunch of flowers and the leaves, coloured with Stampin' blends is from the Blooms & Grow stamp set.

The right side is decorated in a similar manner, and a square of Whisper White is added for a written personal message.
For the bottom triangularly scored square, the Mossy Meadow and DSP (Pattern 2) is cut into 2 triangles before adhering together, and then added to each triangle.

The sentiment piece, from "Blooms & Grow" is matted with Mossy Meadow.  The corners of both pieces are rounded with a corner rounder punch. The piece is adhered to the base at the right side only so the it tucks up inside when the card closes.  A Magnolia bloom, die cut from the DSP decorated the upper right corner.

To close the card, the scored base folds inward pulling up the sentiment.

The size of the closed card is 4 1/8" square.  It is matted with Mossy Meadow and pattern 3 of the Magnolia Lane DSP.

The sentiment, stamped with Soft Suede and Versa Mark, is embossed with Clear Embossing powder, then die cut with the Stitched Label die.  Before adhering this label to the front, some Petal Pink Organza ribbon is added to the front and back and will be used to keep the card closed.  An alternative is a belly band.

Two flowers decorate the front.  They are made by punching Petal Pink card stock using the Four Petal Flower punch, and die cutting the flower centers using the Magnolia Lane dies.  After adhering the center to the flower, each flower is spritzed and scrunched in my hand.  After gently unscrunching them (leaving lots of wrinkles in) they are adhered to the card front.

The front was completed by adding some petal pink self adhesive sequins.

Let's Celebrate You - SUO Challenges #222 - catalogue sneak peak

This could be an Anniversay card or a birthday card, or a card for any celebratory event. When I saw the new challenge for SUO Challenges -celebrations -  I immediately thought of this new "Stamp and Bloom" stamp set available in the new annual catalogue starting June 2

Because foil reflects  light, it  is notoriously difficult to photograph and this card with foil on it is no exception. Gold foil makes a card look  so elegant.

The card base is  5 by 5 Square Whisper White card , layered first with Gold Foil, and then Whisper White.

The floral images were stamped on a separate piece of Whisper White, and coloured with Stampin' Blends - the flowers in Petal Pink, and Flirty Flamingo; the leaves in Granny Apple Green.  Gold glitter was added to the round greenery and the flower centers. It was die cut with the coordinating Grow and Bloom dies.

The gold embossed sentiment  was die cut with the Nesting Label Die. The same size of Nesting Label die was used to die cut a gold foil.  The ends were trimmed off this gold foil die and matted to each end of the Whisper White label die. Foil was not added to the upper and lower edges as the flowers would be covering this up.

This label was then adhered to the  card front, with the two floral die cuts added above and below it using dimensionals.

The inside of the card is layered in a similar manner and the sentiment gold embossed.
