True Gentleman Box on top of a Card

This has been a great week for making a variety of Masculine cards.

So far I have made two cards featuring the True Gentleman  DSP; 2 cards made using shirts designed with the same  DSP, and a Double Z fold card.

I am no stranger to this unique card featuring a box on top of a card, as I have made several of these at Christmas time.  The Box on top of a Card  has that wow factor and can be a gift by itself for a very special person. These little boxes are perfect to "hide" little mementos in.

I used the video tutorial by Frenchie help me with the dimensions to create this card.

The card base is comprised of Tranquil Tide card stock folded to form a top fold card.  At the right end, an aperture is cut out to allow for the insertion of a 2 by 2" box.

This is done using the Stampin' Up trimmer.

Cutting the Aperture for the Box

With the folded part of the card at the top of the trimmer, place the left edge of the card at the 1" mark and cut down to 2".  Move the card so that that same edge is now at the 3" mark, and again cut down to the 2" mark. Now turn the card 90 degrees, and matching up the cut marks at the 2" mark, cut across the bottom of aperture  from the 1" to the 3" mark. Remove the card stock (I like to make this into a tag)  You now have a place to insert a box.

Decorating the card:

A strip of DSP layered with Very Vanilla card stock is placed on the lower front, A sentiment  stamped, and punched with the 'tag punch was added to the upper left and a "arrow-like" image stamped on Very Vanilla on the right side. Three buttons already threaded with Linen Thread, were added to the left using glue dots.

Making the Box:

Box: Score a 6 by 6" piece of DSP 2" on all 4 sides. Make into a box
Lid: 1 1/16 by 1 1/16 piece of coordinating card stock scored 1/2" on all four sides. Make lid.

The lid of the box is decorated with a piece of DSP matted with Tranquil Tide card stock.  I used the bow builder punch to create a bow which was adhered to the top using glue dots.

On the inside  I added some Very Vanilla card stock stamped with a sentiment towards the left side.

The box fits very nicely into the cut out aperture.

Hearts Come Home Bundle Tags

It's another warm fall day in southern Ontario - so warm that a winter coat is not needed.  Very unusual for this time year, but who am I to complain??

Spent the morning cleaning out my craft area as I'm having the carpet shampooed.  Got a call last night that the people shampooing the carpet are having a half price special as well as a no tax day.  Bonus!!

After I got everything cleaned up I felt in the mood to create something, so since I had the Hearts Come Home Bundle already out for class tonight I decided to make some tags.  They ended up looking totally different from the ornaments I made yesterday, but that's the beauty of this bundle.

I made 6 and packaged them in a tin for sale at my craft show on the weekend.

Each tag has a  2 by 4" Whisper White base punched with the scallop tag topper punch.
The 2 7/8 by 3" Night of Navy art piece has white embossed with images from the Hearts Come Home stamp set, and then a silhouette die cut from the coordinating edgelet die.  Some gold foil was placed behind the house to make it look like the lights were one and someone was -super easy - and no mess.

The sentiment "Merry" was cut from part of the sentiment from this stamp set.  I stamped it in Night of Navy and matted the Whisper White piece with gold foil.

At the top of the tag I added a bow made using the Bow Builder punch, and placed a gold faceted gem in the center of that.

Because I ran out of the silver tag twine I used the 1/2" crumpled Night of Navy ribbon instead.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Hearts Come Home
Inks:  Night of Navy, Versa Mark
Papers:  Whisper White (thick), Night of Navy, Gold Foil
Accessories:  White embossing powder, Scallop tag topper punch, Bow Builder punch, Gold faceted gem, Adhesive sheets, Hometown Greeting Edgelet dies.

Hearts Come Home Tag

In two weeks I will be doing my last class of the year - on tags and ornaments.

One of the tags that will be made is one made using the Hearts Come Home stamp set and coordinating framelits/edgelits "Hometown Greetings"

I started with a 3 by 2" of  Whisper White and die cut the top of the tag using the tag top die from the Hometown Greetings die set.  It has a little heart for a ribbon aperture.

On a 3 by 1 7/8" piece of Night of Navy card stock, I first white embossed the moon, Santa and sleigh and snowflakes in white.  Then I added a die cut of a house, snowman and trees and added it to the bottom.  Behind the house I added a small piece of gold foil, making it look like the windows are lit up.

The sentiment in the middle is only half the sentiment from the stamp set.  It is stamped in Night of Navy on Whisper White and matted with Gold Foil

At the top I added a Whisper White bow made using  the Bow Builder punch.  In the center of the bow is a gold faceted gem.

Some silver trim cord was inserted through the heart- shaped aperture.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Hearts Come Home
Inks:  Versa Mark, Night of Navy
Papers:  Whisper White, Night of Navy, Gold Foil
Accessories:  Hometown Greetings Dies/Edgelets, Silver trim cord, Bow Builder punch, Gold faceted gem, White embossing powder, Clear Wink of Stella

Bow Tie Father's Day Card

As I have been doing all week, I am making cards depicting stamps and/or products that are retiring by June 2.

Today's card it is not the stamp, nor is it the main image, but extras that are usually put on a card.

The base card is Early Espresso, layered with Marina Mist embossed with the Argyle embossing folder.  Some Whisper White cardstock is layered on top of that, the bottom of which is punched with the scallop edge punch.  A piece of 1/8" Basic Black taffeta ribbon is adhered just over the scalloped edge.

The bow ties are made using the bow builder punch.  Three patterns of the Adventure Bounds DSP stack were used.  In the middle of each bow a gold basic metal button, which had been threaded with a tiny sliver of Early Espresso cardstock, was adhered with a glue dot.

The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes, punched with the Word Window punch and matted with the Modern Word Label punch.

Have you figured out what is retiring?  The argyle embossing folder, the Scallop border punch, the 1/8" Basic Black taffeta ribbon, the Modern word label punch, and the Adventure Bounds DSP stack.

Decorated Note Pad with Butterfly Basics

I have a craft show next week, so I promised myself I would work on show-related stuff for the rest of the day.
One of my best sellers is the decorated note pad.  This one I chose to decorate with the Butterfly Basics stamp set which will be available Jan. 6, 2015

I have made other note pads that open from the middle, but I decided to make this one open like a book."
For a lot of my craft show items I used retired DSP and this is no exception.

I start with an 81/2 by 11 piece of cardstock and trim 1/4" off the bottom.  On the long side, I score at 5 1/2 and 5 3/4.  Then I decorate as desired.

Here are some other posts related to decorated note pads:
