Friendship is a Sheltering Tree - a Shaker Card

I  can't believe how fast my garden has grown, and how quickly the trees have been covered with leaves. Cherry blossom time has now come and gone, but other fruit trees are just starting to bloom. Which gives me an idea for a shaker card using the Sheltering Tree stamp set.

I started with a base of Petal Pink card stock, one of the new colours, and on a 4 by 5 1/4" Whisper White layer I stamped the tree in Soft Suede ink using Petal Pink ink for the blossoms.  I only stamped the blossoms once as in most cases blossoms are just now emerging from the trees.

A circle was die cut in a second 4 by 5 1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock.  Window sheet was adhered on the wrong side of this, after which I added foam tape around the circle (away from the edge) and around the edges .  This foam tape makes it easier than ever to make shaker cards!

Before adding the shaker elements the embossing buddy was used to wipe both sides of the window sheets as well as the inside.  This not only reduces static cling but also prevents the shaker elements fro 'stickling' to the edges.

On the right front edge I added a 1/2 by 5 1/4" strip of Petal Pink card stock to which I adhered one of the laser die cuts from the new laser die DSP as well as some 1/4" white organza ribbon.  Die cut flower clusters from Beautiful Bouquet decorated the shaker circle.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

Papers:  Petal Pink, Whisper White, Laser Cut DSP

Statement of the Heart Shaker Card - a catalogue sneak peak

It's been a while since I've made a shaker card and the stamp set "Statement of the Heart" lends itself well to that technique.  I've also had a request to do a class on shaker cards in 2 weeks time so this was a perfect time to refresh my memory.

Using the Hearts Framelits, I die cut an aperture large enough in the Bundle of Love DSP, so the entire sentiment would be visible.  Some Window sheet was adhered on wrong side,

On a separate piece of Very Vanilla card stock the sentiment was stamped with the assistance of the Stamparatus. The heart was coloured with a red marker.

After adding some tiny glitter pearls (non SU) as shaker elements, the two layers were adhered together to form a shaker.

Some 3/8" Very Vanilla stitched satin ribbon and a bow was adhered to the left side of the card before the two layers were added together.

Die cut flowers from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set and coordinating Bouquet Bunch framelits were used to decorate around the heart.  The colours were kept soft and muted, using Blushing Bride and Soft Sky on the flowers, and leaving the leaves in Very Vanilla.  Small pearls were added to the center of each flower.

To finish the card I added some Clear Wink of Stella to each bloom.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Statement of the Heart, Beautiful Bouquet
Inks:  Black Memento, Blushing Bride, Soft Sky
Papers:  Very Vanilla, Bundle of Love DSP
Accessories:  Hearts Framelits, Bouquet Bunch Framelits, Glitter pearls (non SU), Foam tape, Window Sheet, 3/8" Very Vanilla stitched ribbon, pearls, Clear Wink of Stella

Beautiful Bouquet with Retiring Colors

Another day and another card depicting some retiring colours part of Stampin' Up's colour revamp.  Today's colours:  Rose Red and Pink Pirouette and I also include Glimmer Paper and the Post Edge punch.  Always Artichoke was the topic yesterday and is included today as well.

The base card is Rose Red, layered with Whisper White then Pink Pirouette DSP embossed with the Sparkle embossing folder (returning).

In the middle is a strip of Rose Red card stock which has a strip of Iridescent glimmer paper punched with the ticket edge punch.

On a Lots of Label die cut, I built a bouquet of flowers die cut using the Beautiful Bouquet Framelits.  Some were die cut using Rose Red card stock; some with Pink Pirouette.  The Pink Pirouette flowers were sponged with Perfect Plum ink (also retiring) to give it some depth. All flowers had Clear Wink of Stella applied. The stem is Always Artichoke.

At the base of the flowers I added a bow made with the 1/4" White Organza ribbon, and then added a tag with "Hello" stamped with Rose Red ink and a small rhinestone at the top.

I added a few fallen flowers at the bottom of the die cut label.  The focal image was then added to the card front with dimensionals.
