Balloon Birthday - Try Stampin' on Tuesday #315

The sketch challenge with Try Stampin' on Tuesday this week is just crying for balloons.  However, I did have to make some strategic changes to Vicki's sketch, which I hope she doesn't mind.

The optional theme for this sketch was to use 3 different patterns.

As you can see from my card, instead of circles I used balloons of different sizes and patterns, and I placed them on the upper left of the card.

To do this I used balloons from 2 different stamp sets:  Celebrate today (the larger balloon) and Balloon Adventure (2 other balloons).

After stamping the balloons on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, the larger one was die cut using the Balloon Framelit Dies: the smaller balloons with the Balloon Bouquet punch.

 

The sentiment was stamped on the larger balloon

with Black Memento ink before it was adhered to the upper left of a Very Vanilla Art piece. A curly balloon string was stamped from the larger balloon. The other two balloons were adhered using dimensionals. A fine tipped marker was used to hand draw balloon strings from these two balloons to merge with the curly one.

Two Bermuda Bay glimmer bows were added two places along the balloon strings.

After I finished this, I felt the card lacked something, so I die cut some clouds using the Up & Away Thinlets, sponged them with Basic Gray and adhered them to the card.

Balloon Adventure Pop- Up Birthday Card - Card 3

This is the 3rd card made using the Balloon Adventure stamp set and coordinating framelits/die.
This card features a pop up center.

Above is the card front.

The basic card is Pacific Point card stock. layered with Very Vanilla, and a 4 by 2 3/4" piece of Animal Party DSP.

The sentiment is stamped with Pacific Point ink on a 2 1/4 by 3 1/2" piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, which was matted with a 2 1/2 by 3 3/4" piece of Pacific Point card stock.  This unit was adhered to the card front with dimensionals.

Three balloons - one each of Emerald Envy, Crushed Curry, and Pacific Point card stock, were punched with the Balloon Builder punch and adhered randomly to the card front with dimensionals.

On the inside of the card is the Pop up mechanism.  This is made using the Balloon pop up die which is laid on the center line of a 5 1/2 by 7 1/2" piece of Very Vanilla card stock and run through the Big Shot.

Before adhering the die cut to the card front, the balloons were stamped - first with the solid stamp and secondly with the polka dot stamp - in the following colours:  Crushed Curry, Pacific Point, and Tangerine Tango.  The sentiment is stamped with Pacific Point. A small bow was die cut in Pacific Point and adhered over the bow at the bottom.

A 1/2 by 5" piece of DSP was adhered over the ends of the Very Vanilla cardstock.

Here the card is completely opened.

Polka Dot Trio Balloon Adventure Birthday - Card 2

Emerald Envy card stock is the base for this card.

A 4 by 5 1/4" piece of Playful Palette DSP was die cut with the Pop Up Balloon framelit.  Three Very Vanilla card stock was punched with the Balloon Builder punch and placed behind 3 die cut polka dot balloons, one each of Sweet Sugarplum, Basic Black and Peekaboo Peach. 

The die cut DSP was adhered to the card front; the balloon units were then adhered to the balloons of the DSP.

A small ribbon, die cut with Sweet Sugar plum card stock, was adhered over top of the DSP one at the bottom.

Emerald Envy ink was used to stamp the sentiment and banner.  This was cut out and added to the DSP with dimensionals.

Balloon Adventure Birthday Card 1 - Glittery Party On

New Year's Day is traditionally the time when I take down the Christmas decorations.  I must admit I started, but my craft table was calling me - specifically the Balloon Adventure stamp set and its coordinating framelits the Balloon Pop Up dies.

I made 3 cards, each highlighting a different aspect  of the stamp set, going from simple to more complex. Today I will post the first card and the others over the next two days.

The Flirtatious Flamingo card stock base is layered with a Whisper White layer embossed with the Confetti embossing folder.

On top of this embossed surface three balloons were built using the framelits and the Balloon Builder punch. Three balloons were die cut in silver glimmer paper and Flirtatious Flamingo punched balloons were adhered behind them.  The strings from the balloons were stamped with Black Memento ink. The balloons were then adhered to the card front - the middle one with dimensionals. Tiny bows made with White/silver Baker's twine were attached to the base of each balloon.

The sentiment was stamped on a banner which was hand cut and adhered to the card front with dimensionals.

Carousel Birthday - Freshly Made Sketches 268

Christmas is over with once again, and today, Boxing Day, I'm confined indoors due to freezing rain.  I wanted to go out to buy a new winter coat at one of the stores having fantastic Boxing Day sales, but it will have to wait.  So, I'm making some cards instead.

The sketch challenge with Freshly Made Sketches this week is particularly difficult for me because the requirement is that the sketch be clean and fresh.  Lots of detail and embellishments are encouraged as long as the "clean" look of the card is maintained i.e. avoid distressing and torn edges.

Art Piece

On a square 2 5/8 by 2 5/8" of Whisper White cardstock, the image of the carousel horse was stamped and coloured with a blender pen and ink pads.  The sentiment, from "Balloon Adventures" was stamped underneath the image. Both these stamp sets will be available in the new Occasions catalogue starting January 4, 2017.

This piece was matted with 2 7/8 by 2 7/8" of Basic Black card stock.  The art piece and matting were adhered to the card front with dimensionals.

After the art piece was adhered to the card front, some dazzling details was added to parts of the horse image.

Card:

The Bermuda Bay card stock base was layered with Whisper White and on the left side a 2 by 4 3/4" piece of Cupcakes & Carousel DSP matted with a 2 1/4 by 5" piece of Calypso Coral card stock was adhered.

A piece of 1/8" stitched Bermuda Bay ribbon was adhered to the left side of the card, and a bow was adhered in the middle.
