No Matter What the Season - Hand Stamped Sentiments #429

I created this card using the Inspirational Challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments #429.

Although Christmas is behind us, winter isn’t, so my card for this challenge uses a Christmas stamp “Perched in a Tree” and it’s coordinating dies “Aspen Tree Dies” as it is perfect for a winter card.

On a Misty Moonlight card base is added a piece of White Glitter cardstock, followed by some retired Christmas DSP. The bird and branches were stamped separately on a piece of Basic White cardstock.

These images were coloured with Stampin Blends. For the bird I used Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Pecan Pie, and Daffodil Delight. Crystal Effects was added to the bird’s eye. For the two branches I used      The second branch was trimmed and added as a branch for the first branch,

To make the card look more wintry I added a layer of embossing paste with Dazzling Diamonds to the top of the branches.

After die cutting the bird and branches, they were added to the card front using dimensionals.

Half of the sentiment is added to the card front - the remainder is on the inside.

To finish the card I added some white classic matte dots randomly on the card front.

Supplies Used:

Stamp: Perched in a Tree

Inks:  Black Memento, Misty Moonlight, Stampin Blends (Basic Black, Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake,   Pebbled Path.

Papers: Basic White, Night of Misty Moonlight, White Glitter Paper, Retired Christmas DSP.

Accessories: Aspen Tree Dies, Glossy Accents, Embossing Paste, Dazzling Diamonds, Dimensionals, Classic Matte Dots

Let it Snow - Try Stampin on Tuesday #587

Today certainly has been a snowy day - probably the first white Christmas we have had in a long time. This wintry blast has kept most of us home because with high winds, blowing snow, poor visibility and dropping temperatures, a lot of the roads /airports/train stations etc were closed. My sister and her husband spent two days on the floor of Vancouver Airport trying to catch a plane to Singapore.

I kept thinking of the poor birds trying to stay warm with all that blustery wintry weather. My card for the sketch challenge with TSOT  features a winter robin from the stamp set “Perched in a Tree” trying to stay warm on a snowy day.

Usually robins fly south for the winter, but occasionally some robins stay behind. The robin on this card is one of the ones who stayed.

The robin was coloured with watercolour pencils and a blender pen .  It was then die cut using the specific die from the “Aspen Tree Dies” and placed on a snow covered branch.  The snow was made using Liquid Appliqué. Behind the bird is a 3” die cut Starry Sky circle upon which is adhered a “Wonderful Snowflake”.  Behind the circle is a horizontal 3” strip of white glitter paper.

Two notched banners in the upper left corner have 3 dots of white pearlized enamel added to them.

The sentiment  from Frog’s Whiskers Ink is stamped with Starry Sky” Ink and matted with Starry Sky cardstock.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Perched in a Tree, sentiment (Frog’s Whiskers Ink”)
