Happy Birthday

I have a number of birthdays coming up this month, so I use the Happy Birthday SAB stamp to make a couple of cards. In this card, I included some new products from the Mini Catalogue which sent live yesterday. That's one thing wonderful about Stampin' Up - everything coordinates so nicely.

I wanted to use the Birthday Bonanza DSP from the Mini Catalogue, so I picked the colours for this card using this paper. Although this is a paper for children, some of the designs are age neutral like the striped DSP I selected.

The image was stamped on Whisper White and coloured with flowers with Stampin' Blends (Coastal Cabana, Mango Melody and Granny Apple Green. Rhinestones were placed in the flower centers and Glitter Crystal Effects applied to the petal edges,

I wanted the flowers to be the focal point, so the cake and stand were coloured a very light neutral Smokey Slate colour.  To make the image pop the background was coloured  lightly with a watercolour pencil  and blended with a blender pen.

The image was die cut using the new Sweetly Stitched Label die, and matted with a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock before adding it to the card front with dimensionals.

The card base is Coastal Cabana layered with Whisper White. A strip of Birthday Bonanza DSP is added in the middle and on the left edge is a piece of Coastal Cabana card stock punched with the new Braided Edge punch.  Some 1/4" Whisper White crinkled seam binding is woven in this punched piece before it is added to the card front.

The sentiment, from Itty Bitty Birthdays is added below the birthday cake.

Nature's Beauty Trifold Acorn Card

One of my team members brought me a card with a different and very unique fold.  She kindly wrote down the measurements for the card as well as instructions on how to put it together.  Thank you Marci.
Never one to back away from a challenge, I proceeded to make my own card.  But first I tracked down the original designer, Jan Brown.  She has made a video featuring this card fold, so between my friend's directions and this video made my own card.

Front of card.  Image die cut with Layering Oval dies.

Congratulations Grad - Technostamper # 256

My blog post may look a little different today.  Blogger has been down for over 24 hours, so I changed my internet provider to Google chrome.  Amazingly it worked.  I am actually able  to post today!

Easter is this weekend, and after Easter, for those who are in school, comes final exams, and then graduation.

For today's challenge with Technostamper  here I made a graduation card. To do this I turned the sketch onto its side.

The base card is Basic Black, layered with Bashful Blue, and then DSP from the Festival of Prints pack.  A strip of Basic Black with a strip of scalloped More Mustard card stock was adhered to the top of the card.

The image was stamped twice , once with Island Indigo ink and once with Black Stazon. Using a stamp-a-ma-jig and Island Indigo ink, the words congratulations were stamped onto the ribbon.  The large scalloped circle was then punched with the 2 3/8" circle punch, reattaching the ribbons later. The ribbon was cut out by hand.
With a 1 1/4 " circle punch, the sentiment was punched out of the second image.  A 1 3/8" basic black circle was punched to provide a mat for the sentiment.  The two were adhered together, and attached to the first image using dimensionals.  The ribbon was now reattached to the scalloped circle.
The entire image was attached, using dimensionals,  to a doilie that had been adhered to the DSP.
