This birthday card with the funky colourful background was made for the sketch challenge at Try Stampin on Tuesday #674 and their sister blog Double Trouble #195
To create the background I used 3 different Colors of Pixie powders ( Aqua Lagoon, Scarlet Mist, Sun Yellow). These powders are a dry mixture of pearl mica powders and a dye on watercolor paper. These powders are activated by water creating a shimmery background. I lightly spritzed the watercolour paper with water and added the Pixie powders. More water was spritzed until I achieved the desired results.
After drying thoroughly I stamped 3 circles (Swirly Frames stamp) using Black Memento ink and second generation stamping. The birthday sentiment ,which has a slightly grungy look, was perfect for this card. It was clear embossed after stamping with black versafine ink.
This background was added to a basic black card base.
Some gold embellishments added randomly completed the card front.
For the Double Trouble #194 3-2-1 challenge I believe I have met the requirements of the challenge in that I used 3 different colors , stamped 3 images (circles) and stamped a sentiment. In addition I added some gold in the form of gold embellishments as well as mica powder in the background.
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Sentiments (Sizzix), Swirly Frames
Inks: Black Memento. Versafine Ink
Papers: Basic Black, Watercolor paper, Basic White inside
Accessories: Pixie powders, spritzer, Clear embossing powder, gold embellishments.
