Sometimes I just want to make a card using a fun fold. Using fun folds gives the card so much character! And - thee fun fold doesn’t have to be a complicated or difficult.
Case in point- today’s card fold is called a faux front step fold. This fold uses 2 pieces of cardstock, versus one piece in which you need to measure, score, cut and fold.
Before I explain my card more, here is a picture of the completed card.
As I mentioned, this fold uses 2 pieces of cardstock- in this case Poppy Parade. Why poppy parade? That is one of the colours in the DSP, and also a colour for Valentine's day (as this could be a Valentine's Day card)
The Poppy Parade card base is 9 by 4 1/4" and scored at 3 1/4, 6 1/2, &7 3/4". It is folded as follows: At the 7 3/4" score line make a mountain fold; at the 6 1/2" line a valley fold, followed by a mountain fold. See the picture above.
Add a 4 1/8 by 3 1/8" piece of Tea Boutique DSP to the base between the 7 3/4 and 6 1/2" score lines.
Add a 2 3/ 8 by 5 3/ 8" piece of DSP to the other longer piece. On top of this, centered is a 1 1/4" strip of Garden green DSP embossed with a polka dot embossing folder
Adhere the two pieces of cardstock together to create the fold.
Stamp the sentiment on a piece of Basic White card stock, sponge the edges with Garden Green ink and mat with Garden Green cardstock and add it to the bottom of the longer strip using Dimensionals.
The little bird and squirrel were stamped separately, coloured with Stampin' Blends and added to the bottom of the card with dimensionals.
The images were stamped on Basic White cardstock and coloured with Stampin' Blends. The colours will be listed at the bottom of this post. The Gnome was die cut using the Gnome die, but there is no die for the Toadstool so it was fussy cut. Both were added to the embossed Basic White piece of cardstock - the Gnome with dimensionals.
Before this was added to the front of the card, a strip of embossed Garden Green cardstock 1 1/4 by 5 1/2" was adhered to the center. The focal image was adhered to this using dimensionals.
After this focal piece was matted with Poppy Red cardstock, it was added to the longer piece of Poppy Parade cardstock.
The DSP - Tea Boutique - was selected first, and all the colours in the card, from the image colours to the colour of the card stock came from the DSP.
