Summer is gone. Fall is here. And the activity of some of the critters in the back yard have increased. Black squirrels are busy digging everywhere burying nuts for the winter; chipmunks are darting back and forth, and the racoons have been busy raiding my composter. Geese are flying overhead congregating on the waters of Little Lake downtown before heading south.
And, of course, the temperature is getting colder.
This morning a black squirrel came right up to the window in the living room with the intent purpose of teasing my two kittens. He moved closer and closer, knowing full well that a screen separated him for my 2 cats sitting with tails twitching on the other side. For the next 10 minutes the squirrel taunted and teased. The cats were absolutely mesmerized as they held their faces so close to the screen I'm sure it left markings on their noses.
So today I wanted to make a card reflecting the end of summer and the beginning of fall. I chose to highlight the little chipmunk, placing him on a branch of a tree I stamped side ways.
As mentioned, the tree from "Life if Beautiful" , masked at the lower end, was stamped sideways. I only wanted the top branch. The little chipmunk from "Field Journal" was placed on the tree after which I used the leaf stamp from Life is Beautiful and stamped them in Pear Pizzazz, Pumpkin Pie and Real Red.
Mossy Meadow was used to stamp the trees on the horizon - using the stamp from "Rustic Retreat"
The fall flower, stamped in the lower right corner is from Field Journal.
The sky and fore ground were sponged using daubers.
All images were coloured with watercolor pencils and a blender pen.
