Crumpled Paper Background

I saw this technique demonstrated by several demonstrators on Pinterest and today I gave it a try.

Doesn't it look neat?

Here's how its done:

  1.  Crumple a 3 3/4 by 5" piece of Whisper White card stock in your hand.
  2.  Straighten the piece, trying not to smooth out the wrinkles
  3.  Using the open ink pad, apply the first colour of ink directly to the crumpled paper .  The ink will be picked up by the top of the wrinkles.
  4.  Before applying the second colour, crumple the paper a second time to create new wrinkles
  5. Again straighten the paper being careful to preserve the wrinkles.
  6. Apply second ink colour in the same manner as with first colour.
  7. Spritz paper with water to allow colours to blend.
  8. Dry with heat tool or set aside to dry.
  9. When dry, smooth wrinkled paper with a bone folder.  It is now ready to use on a card.

On the card above, I applied Rich Razzelberry ink first, followed by Black Memento.  It was matted with Basic Black card stock and mounted on a Rich Razzelberry card stock base.
