Keep Dreaming - Freshly Made Sketches #393

The Perennial Essence DSP, with its Mone -like patterns, is one of my favourite DSPs in the new Annual catalogue - at least for today.  Not that I'm fickle.....

I have used this paper in many ways, including framing each design see post here and using it to make a shadow box see post here

Today I am using this DSP to make a card to submit to the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches #393 here.  I worked hard at keeping the design of this card simple as that is an area I have a great deal of difficulty with.

The card base is Whisper White card stock, layered with another piece of Whisper White which has been embossed with the Subtle Texture Embossing Folder.

On top of that I add a piece of Perennial Essence DSP matted with Old Olive card stock - the Old Olive only showing above and below the DSP.

At the top and bottom edges of the DSP I add a 1/4" metallic Pink Petal ribbon (retired) and then adhere this to the card front.

I couldn't resist making a small punch art Magnolia flower and adding it to the DSP panel.
Here's how the flower was made:
  • With the Perennial Flower punch- punch 2 flowers in Whisper White;
  • With the Magnolia die- die cut two sizes of stamens in Basic Black
  •  Use the Petal punch to punch 2 leaves in Mossy Meadow.
  • Sponge the Whisper White flowers were lightly with Flirty Flamingo and Mango Melody inks, spritze with water, dry and gently shape them.
  • Adhere together alternating petals.  Shape the Basic Black stamens, adhere together, and glue to the inside of the flower.
  • Sponge the edges of the leaves with Mossy Meadow ink, shape them and adhered to the underside of the flower.
  • Add a pink rhinestones from the Noble Peacock rhinestone collection to the center of the flower.

The sentiment, from "Silhouette Scenes", stamped on Whisper white with Black Memento, is punched at one end with the Everyday Label punch.  After  matting  with some Old Olive card stock which has the end punched with the same punch, it is adhered to the card using dimensionals.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Silhouette Scenes
Inks:  Black Memento, Flirty Flamingo, Mango Melody, Mossy Meadow
Papers:  Whisper White, Perennial Essence DSP, Old Olive, Mossy Meadow, Basic Black
Accessories:  Subltle Texture DSP, 1/4" Metallic Petal Pink ribbon, Everyday Label Punch, Leaf Punch, Perennial Flower punch, Magnolia dies, Dimensionals, Noble Peacock rhinestone.
