Yesterday I finished a weekend craft show which was very successful but also very tiring. I made a lot of sales and met many prospective students and clients and certainly met my goal regarding the number of catalogues handed out.
After I set up Friday morning, with the help of a friend, I was approached by the organized who had inadvertently assigned 2 spaces to one vendor ( and as a result the booth directly across from mine was vacant). There is nothing worse at a craft show than empty booths! So, I was quick to agree when she asked if I would take over that booth This really allowed me to spread out and display items I had not room for in my booth and were stored under the table. Unfortunately I did not have table cloths for those tables, but I don't think any one minded.
In the original booth I had 10 foot tables on two walls. On this table I displayed the Christmas ornaments, book marks, decorated journals, Teacher gift and stocking stuffer ideas and Halloween goodies.
The Christmas cards were displayed on this side
Across the aisle I displayed all the other Occasion cards as well as some 3D items.
A new item for me this year was decorated gift bags and square Kleenex boxes. These are displayed on the second table in this booth.
Having no help for most of Friday night, and Sunday, more on Saturday, so I was doing a lot of running back and forth between the booths. I was very happy when my help did arrive (with a cup of coffee, because who had time to go get one?
What sold well? Cards, bookmarks (especially the owl book marks) tea bag file folders, coasters, post it notes, and desk top calendars. I also sold the décor item I had made from altered CD's and some decorated gift bags.
As was usual with crafts shows this time of year, there were a few comments about us pushing Christmas way too soon. Despite what one sees in retail stores today, craft vendors should not be offering Christmas items or cards until after Nov. 11. But those comments were few and far between, and on the whole the products I was selling were well received.
I have some Halloween candy left over if anyone would like some!!
