I wanted to try using the color blocking technique to place the Flamingo in a more tropical setting at sunset. I'm not sure I like the result, but the technique itself is a lot of fun.
Color blocking is a type of masking- i.e. to color the sun, I punched a 2" circle and colored only within the circle. Then to color the rest of the sky, the sun was covered up, as was the watery area etc.
The Flamingo was stamped using Basic Gray ink. Some Crushed Curry was added to the 3rd layer (feathers) prior to stamping. The legs were over stamped in Basic Black.
The water area was first sponged using Basic Gray, after which I sponged some of the sky colors into the water. The water was over stamped with Dapper Denim ;The grass first with Lemon Limeade Twist and then Garden Green.
Three of the fronds were stamped directly onto the colored sky; a third was stamped on a separate piece of Whisper White, cut out, sponged, and adhered over the other leaves.
The art piece was matted with Gold Foil and before adhering it to the card front with dimensionals, I adhered some 1/8" gold taffeta ribbon and a bow to the lower half.
The front of the Garden Green card base was randomly stamped with the leaves using Garden Green ink.
