Thank You - Watercolour Wash Salt Background Technique

I saw this technique on a video done by Patty Bennett and was motivated to made a few cards using the watercolour wash salt background technique.  All you need is watercolour paper (I just used scraps), an Spritzer with water in it, Clean acrylic block (any size), 3 different colours of ink pads and some protective covering for your table.

These are some I made.  You can see the salt (coarse sea salt) on the surface of the papers.  Let the watercolour paper dry and then brush the salt off into the garbage.

The colours I used:  Island Indigo, Marina Mist, and Old Olive.  The salt has been removed from the pieces.

I stamped the sentiment from `For Being You`with Black Stazon ink on the background immediately above the picture.  With an aquapainter and the Island Indigo ink pad, the letters were filled in with that colour, as were the hearts below.  Some glitter was added to each letter.

The sentiment was matted with Island Indigo cardstock, and attached to the DSP, using dimensionals. The DSP is ``Irresistibly Yours`` (SAB) which was sponged with Old Olive and Pool Party.  This was attached to Pool Party cardstock, at which point Island Indigo ribbon was added to the left side.  The layer was then attached to an Island Indigo card base.

Three butterflies were punched using the Bitty  butterfly punch and attached using glue dots.  Rhinestones were added in the center of each butterfly.

The supplies used are:

I also used coarse sea salt.

Love the card. Thanks for the reminder of this great technique. Haven't thought of it since playing with my girls when they were young.
Your colors have worked so well. That little touch of glitter just completing the effect.
