Pure Gumption - a Graduation Card - Unscripted Sketches #208

Today I thought I would use the sketch challenge with Unscripted Sketches here to make another graduation card - this time using the colours of our local University - yellow, red, black and white.

US_Sketch208

The colours used on this card reflect the colours of Trent University, and these are the colours the graduates will be wearing on that all important graduation day.
I started by making a Basic Black base card, layered with Daffodil Delight.  Before adhering it to the Black card stock, I embossed the top portion with the Square Lattice folder, leaving room for the sentiment, which I stamped below the embossing.

The image panel was made by stamping the image of the cap randomly over an entire piece of Whisper White card stock.  Then each cap was coloured in with a Basic Black marker.
This white panel was layered with Red Card Stock.
A piece of 1/8" black taffeta ribbon was adhered to the right side of this panel, and a knot attached to that.
This panel was attached to the Daffodil Delight card stock, leaving 1/4" of exposed card stock.

Here's a summary of the stamp/materials used:
Stamp: Pure Gumption
Ink: Black Stazon, SU Basic Black marker
Papers: Basic Black, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Real Red
Accessories: Square lattice embossing folder, 1/8" black taffeta ribbon

Wow! That's a whole lot of hats to color! Great job!

I love these colors together - so vibrant and so cheery - perfect for a graduation celebration. The pop of red is stunning in its simplicity and adds just the right amout of ka-pow to your card!

Thank you so much for sharning your talent and creativity with us this week at Unscripted Sketches :)

Nice! The school colors look great, and like Geri said the proportions of each work great to make the red pop. Thanks for playing along with us at unscripted sketches!

What a wonderful use of dry embossing on the upper part of this smashing card. The yellow is bright and cheery, too!
