Here's to You - Penquin - Friday Mashup #45

I didn't really think I  had a stamp of a baby penquin except for Christmas stamps, and I really didn't want to make a Christmas card.  But, looking closely through my stamp sets, I found the stamp that I used in the Zoo Review stamp set.
The Challenge with The Friday Mashup #45 was to make a card with a penquin, using the spotlighting technique.

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge :
  1. Make a project using the "Spotlighting Technique".
  2. Or Make a project featuring "Penguins".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project featuring "Penguins using the Spotlighting Technique".

 Here's my card:

I started by making the marble background using reinkers dropped into water.  The effect is stunning.  The picture doesn't do it justice.  The reason for the marble background was to mimic an iceberg or an ice flow which is where of course penquins usually are found.
Then I tore a piece of Whisper White card stock and covered it with Dazzling Diamonds - for snow on the iceflow.
The penquin was stamped with Basic Black and the head area was highlighted with a 1 1/4" circle punch out. Only the area within the circle was colored with markers.
A tutorial about the spotlighting technique is here

Recipe:
Stamps: Zoo Review, Friendly Phrases
Inks: Basic Black, SU markers, reinkers (Pool Party, Pink Pirouette)
Papers: Basic Black, Glossy Cardstock, Whisper White
Accessories: Labels framelit, 1 3/4 by 7/8" Oval Punch, Dazzling diamonds, 5/8" Basick Black Grosgrain ribbon, rhinestones, dimensionals.

Hi Maria,

Fabulous technique background, I'm glad you kept the card simple to highlight those fabulous swirls of colour. Your penguin in the spotlight looks great matted on black.

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
