Sweet as a Button - The Friday Mashup #20

The challenge - combine a cupcake with buttons.  See blog here
I decided to make a telescoping card - using the tutorial by Julie Davison http://juliedavison.com/Tutorials/1108_TelescopingCard.pdf

After making all the pieces I needed to make the telescoping card, I stamped the image of a cupcake from "Crazy for Cupcakes" onto Whisper white cardstock - twice.  Both images were cut out.  One image was left intact - the other the icing was detached from the cupcake bottom.
The icing was coloured with a Daffodil marker; the cupcake base with Tempting turquoise, highlighted with Pacific Point.  The candle was also coloured Tempting Turqoise - the flame Tangerine Tango and Daffodil Delight.
Using stampin dimensionals the icing was mounted on top of the intact cupcake.
Now for the buttons.  With the floral itty bitty punch, 5 shapes were punched with Melon Mambo and attached to the underside of similar shaped Bitty buttons.  A rhinestone was attached to the top of the button and the button unit was attached to the cupcake icing with a glue dot.  Itty bitty bits flower stamp was stamped with melon Mambo ink around the periphery.  Some dazzling elements was applied to the center of this tiny flower.

Here is a side view of the cupcake with the button units on the icing

The telescoping card is open displaying the back side.  The top circle is a 2 3/8" Scallop circle - in Melon Mambo card stock.  A piece of 3/8" Lucky Limeade ruffled ribbon folded in half is attached at the top with a brad.

The middle circle is Flirtatious designer paper - 3 1/2".  The tempting Turqoise flower covers the back side of a brad.

The bottom and largest circle is a Scallop circle  in Melon Mambo. Each scallop was pierced with a paper piercer and mat pack.  A 3 1/2" Whisper White circle is mounted on this scallop circle.

The Itty Bitty Bits floral stamp was stamped with Melon Mambo ink around the periphery of this circle, and the cupcake mounted in the middle.  The sentiment is from Petite Pairs.

This is the other side of the telescoping card. The 1 3/4" whisper white circle has a balloon on it.  Dazzling diamonds covers the balloon.  This top scallop circle is attached to the middle circle which is the Flirtatious Designer paper with a white doily glued to the middle - with a silver brad

Now you see the other side of the large scallop circle.  The 2 3/8" Whisper White cardstock has the birthday sentiment stamped on it, as well as an Itty Bitty Bits cupcake stamp stamped around the periphery.

This is the front (other side) of the telescoping card as it is closed up.

Here are the materials I used:
Stamps: Crazy for Cupcakes, Itty Bitty Bits, Create a Cupcake, Petite Pairs
Inks: Melon Mambo, Markers (Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point
Papers:Melon Mambo, Whisper White, Flirtatious Designer Paper, White doily from Flirtatious Designer Paper
