Hot glue/glitter ornament - Challenge 203 LNS

The challenge this week with the LNS stamper group is to make a Christmas ornament.  I must admit I couldn't decide which ornament to make.  I had all these round Christmas ornament glass balls and no ideas.  Then I visited a friend of mine at a local scrapbooking store and she had used hot glue on an ornament and an idea was born.  Thank you Helen.
Here is my ornament - both front and side views.

I took the top off the ornament, and with hot glue gun applied hot glue in circles around the ornament - a bit at a time, and covered the hot glue with dazzling diamonds.  Then applied more hot glue, and more dazzling diamonds until the ornament was covered.  My hands were shaking a bit as I still have some tendonitis so the circles are not perfect.
Then I hot glued a silver glitter snowflake to the front and the back of the ornament, and a ribbon to the top.  Baker's twine was used as the string to hang the ornament on the tree.

Materials used:
  • Large glass round Christmas ball
  • Hot glue gun
  • Dazzling diamonds
  • Silver glimmer paper
  • Snowflake die
  • White taffeta ribbon
  • White baker's twine.

Stepper Box - Challenge 199 LNS

This week's challenge is to make a gift for Christmas.  Since I already had this gift , a stepper box, made I decided to use it for this challenge.
I have sold a lot of these at my craft fairs this fall, so they are a very popular item.  Little girls (and grandmas) love these little box with the hidden boxes inside.

If you would like to make a Stepper box (sometimes called Fantasy Boxes), there is a great tutorial here

Here are the supplies I used:
  • cardboard (from designer paper packs)
  • designer paper (12 by 12") - I used retired
  • coordinating card stock (Lucky Limeade)
  • embellishment - calypso coral ribbon, Summer smooches brad
  • glue stick
  • double sided tape
  • pencil, ruler, bone folder (all boxes are origami folded)
The lid was decorated using a ribbon rosette make using the new Jumbo sticky rounds.
