Penguin Snowboarder - Double Trouble Challenge #157 & Farm Quest Challenge #44, Aud Sentiments #309

I am submitting this card to the Double Challenge #157 "That Wintry Country Feeling"  , Quest Challenge #44, as well as Aud Sentiments #309

There are three "Things" to the Double challenge:

Thing 1 (required): Trouble Maker has decided on a Wintry Country Feeling using either a stencil or embossing folder.

The Double Challenge 157 has several components. That includes using an embossing folder or stencil to create a wintry country feeling.

Thing 2 (optional) Link this  card to this partner's challenge at Farm Quest Challenge #44

Thing 3 (optional): Twisted Sister suggests the inclusion of  a winter sport, that is  one of the following: skiing, sledding, sleigh riding, tobogganing, or skating. I'm hoping Snow Boarding would be acceptable as a Winter Sport.

There is also a "January Special"  as part of  National Hat Day on January 15 to include a hat in the card design. The card could then be entered into a special random drawing.

The challenge at Aud Sentiments is to create your own background or birthday card or both,as well as a sentiment. I was unable to link it to this site as the maximum number of participants had been reached.

This challenge fits right into one of my New Year's resolutions - to do more with stencils especially making backgrounds.

To create the background I used a stencil and white Embossing paste on a piece of Boho blue card stock.  Unexpectedly, the paste took on a bit of a bluish tinge. When the paste was dry, I added two layers of white glitter card stock to the bottom to make it look like a snowy slope. Some die cut trees added to the slopes gave the background more of a wintery country feel. I added snow to the trees using liquid applique and dazzling diamonds.

The Penguin, wearing a hat, was stamped with Black Versa mark ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. on a separate piece of Basic White cardstock. It was coloured with Stampin' blends and then fussy cut.  Dimensionals were used to add this snowboarder to the card front.

The completed card front was added to a layer of white glitter paper with dimensionals. These two layers were then added to a card base of  Boho blue cardstock. A 4 by 5 1/4" piece of white cardstock was added to the inside.

The sentiment was stamped with Black Versa Mark ink and embossed with clear embossing powder I was punched out using the double oval punch and added to the bottom of the card.

Self adhesive glitter dots were added on the sentiment. and randomly on the card front.

Supplies Used:

Stamps:  Penguin on Snowboard

Inks:  Versa Mark (black), Stampin' Blends (Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade, Boho Blue, Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie)

Papers: Boho Blue, White glitter, Basic White, Garden Green

Accessories: Liquid Applique, Stencil with dots, white embossing paste, dazzling diamonds, dimensionals. Self adhesive glitter dots

OF course you cute penguin snowboarding is adorable... especially since you mounted him with foam tape to give him even more a feeling of flying through the air!! Thank you so much for sharing your card and creativity (I just can't get over your background) with us at Double Trouble. You met all 3 criteria for our winter sports challenge!!! -Donna
