Pumpkins and spice - another sneak peak and a colouring tutorial

One of the advantages of being a demonstrator is that you get to play with the new products from the Holiday catalogue before the catalogue is released to the general public. This also helps me get ready for fall and fall classes.

I have always loved fall, a time when the leaves change colour and the air is clear and crisp.   It's what comes after that I don't particularly like.

So today I am making a fall card, a card with colours in shades of dark green and brown highlighted with orange - orange pumpkins.

On a Thick Whisper White card base is layered some Early Espresso card stock followed by Country Harvest DSP that resembles weathered barn board.  Some coordinating ribbon is wrapped around the DSP/Early Espresso before it is added to the card base.

Three pumpkins are added to the bottom of the card front.  Here's a short tutorial on how to colour the pumpkins.

Stamp the pumpkins with Pumpkin Pie ink and colour using both dark and light Pumpkin pie Stampin' Blends.

Starting with the dark Pumpkin Pie marker, colour along the stamped lines.  Note:  use side of
marker not tip to prevent premature wear of nib.

Add some dark colour to the bottom and top

Shade with the lighter shade of the Pumpkin Pie marker leaving uncoloured areas in the middle of each section.  This gives dimension and shape to the pumpkin.

Below is a close up of the coloured pumpkins.

The larger pumpkins are punched  using the Apple Builder punch, and the small one die cut using a Gathering Leaves die. The Apple Builder punch also punches out a stem for each of the pumpkins. These were coloured with  a light Mossy Meadow Stampin' blend and adhered to the top of the pumpkins. Several leaves were also stamped and coloured with Mossy Meadow ink, fussy cut and added to the pumpkins. Rather than stamp the tendrils, a tiny strip of Mossy Meadow card stock was fussy cut and coiled around a paint brush.

The pumpkins were added to the bottom of the card using dimensionals.

The sentiment, stamped in Early Espresso ink, is from "Country Harvest"
