Birds on a Wire Birthday - a partial case

When my husband and I were first married we had a parakeet for a pet - a bright yellow one.  He was our pet and we were very fond of him - and he knew it.
He learned to open his cage, walk along the door and flip upside down and occasionally fly around the room.
When my daughter arrived he became jealous and when he opened the cage he flew out of the open back door - something he had never done.
We never saw him again.

When I saw these birds on a wire on the Graceful Vellum paper on Pg. 188 of the Annual catalogue , it brought me back to this time. The card was partially cased from a card I saw on Pinterest.

After colouring the birds using the new blends, I reduced the size of the vellum to 3 1/2 by 4 1/2 and adhered it to Whisper White card stock of the same size.  The Sizzix adhesive sheets are perfect for adhering vellum.  Just remove the top cover, stick the vellum over the sticky surface press down and whalla  you can now adhere the vellum to the card stock. This was matted to Basic Black and then Granny Apple Green using dimensionals.  Finally these layers were added to a Basic Black card base.

I added some branches at both upper corners that were punched in Granny Apple Green using the new sprig punch (Pg. 29 Holiday catalogue)

The sentiment is from the coordinating stamp set "Painted Glass".  It is stamped on Whisper White, matted first with Granny Apply Green and then Basic Black.  Dimensionals were used on the bottom only, and tombo on the upper sentiment.

After all these years I still miss that bird.
