When it's the hottest day of the summer, it's difficult to think about the next season that is coming. But summer will end soon and in southern Ontario the leaves on the trees change colour- and the fall season begins. It's a wonderful time of year, but some have mixed feelings about fall- knowing that winter is close on its heels. I acually love the colours of red, yellow, orange, burgancy against a robin egg blue sky - and the air is so fresh!!
Today's card uses the Thoughtful Branches stamp set to depict "fall"
The leaves were die cut from the remnants.
The tree itself was die cut with Crumb Cake card stock, and the edges sponged with the same color of ink. The tree tops were adhered on this tree, the 2 layers staggered to give an illusion of fullness. The darker piece was placed at the back.
A Whisper White oval was stamped with several of the images from the "Timeless Texture" stamp- the edges in Soft Suede, and the dots in Marina Mist. Some darker Soft Suede coloured around the base of the tree helped to ground it.
Dimensionals were used to adhere the tree to the oval, and the oval was adhered to the card front.
The card base is Tip Top Taupe, layered with Whisper White and then Serene Scenery DSP . A piece of 3/8" Burlap ribbon was placed around these two layers.
The sentiment is from "Pop of Paradise".
The extra leaves were randomly attached to the base of the tree. And what is fall without cardinals, so two cardinals were adherred to the card front near the base of the tree. To make them stand out a bit more, tiny pearls were used as the eyes of the birds.
