Lilac Flower - punch art

This spring everything is so early, so I expect that the lilac's will be early in blooming as well. The warm spell we had recently has thrown Mother Nature for a loop and everything is coming up early. The Lilac is one of my favourite spring flowers.  I will cut a few sprigs of Lilacs to bring into the house and their fragrance fills every room of the house.  Outside, their fragrance can be smelled  a block away.
And what is spring without the lilac.

Making the flower is a bit labor intensive, but once all the flowers are punched out the assembly goes quite quickly.
I punched out flowers using the Boho Blossom punch -in Concord Crush, Perfect Plum and Elegant Eggplant as well as Whisper White which was sponged with Perfect plum. The center of the flowers are the pupils of the eyes from the Owl Punch. I used the white gel pen to highlight the flower centers. The flowers were layered with the various color shades in order to create the shape and depth of  the lilac flower.  The leaves were hand cut in Garden green and sponged with Always Artichoke ink. The entire flower was then spritzed with Vanilla spritz.

I'm going to have to make some of these, since I love the smell of lilacs in the spring. I'll bet too, that mine will be blooming almost any day now, with all this unseasonably warm weather.
